Lifting the engine...

i have my new 306 assembled with the heads and lower manifold on..
plus the to bigger holes in the back are plugged because of smog delete..
we were fooling around trying to decide where to lift it now but some of the places the chain actually will hit against the fuel rails or rockers..
soooo...i understand that from the factory they used the "lifting eye" that is on the back of the engine on the pass side header bolts...thats ok to use right..it would work very well..but if they attached it there..where the helll did they attach the other end of the chain?? i have no other lifting eyes on the motor?

I just lifted mine for the first time and i put one end of my chain on the bellhousing bolt and the other on the front. The one on the front is on the driver side at the edge of the intake and 2 inchs down.

i think the best way FOR ME and for anyone really would be to hook one end of the chain to the "lifting eye" that came from stock..it locates the chain out of the way of everything nicely..but where did ford hook th eother end of the chain too????
me and my dad are going to make a bracket that mounts on the drivers side front of motor header bolts so its just like the other one!

Actually from the factory there was a "lifting eye" on both ends d/s front and pass rear. They typically get thrown away when people do headers. You could always buy/make a lifting plate that bolts to the lower intake

oh no 'Kiss Me''Kiss Me''Kiss Me''Kiss Me'...welli have one and it seems like it will work very nicely...we are just ogin to make another one that looks like it for the drivers side front...... that will support all that weight well right? i mean factory does it?

Ford had lifting rings on the drivers front and passanger rear of the heads. They used the header bolts. I have used them to remove & install a motor with out trouble. I don't have any extra's but look around they are out there. Good luck
