So, I welded up my rusted windsheild flange a couple years ago due to leaks.

Found that I had more leaks in the rusted cowl bottom, so I finally took it apart this week.

This aint gonna buff out. Pita, but the first patch is in place. The last photo.

Suggestions welcome.

very common problem on these cars... i suggest you investigating how deep that rabbit hole goes. That looks especially invasive and you are probably looking at floorpans, potential rocker panels,,, strut towers... etc.. i would be looking for a donor car to replace all that rotted sheetmetal. No one makes a replacement cowl piece.. LMR and AMD make some replacement panels.

Been there done that back in 2017,,... was not fun and the car was down for almost a year...

I do wish there were more panels available for these. I just finished installing a new deck filler, package tray , trunk floor, drop offs and tail panel in my 66 Chevelle. This was sitting beside it rusting as a worked.

The 66 Chevelle during the trunk, deck filler and tail panel escapade.....

Can I assume most body parts are readily available from the aftermarket??
Before I got in the " mustang" project I looked at buying a new steel body 70 camaro being produced in Sanborn Florida.... Real Steel Deal I think the companies name is....and building a 2nd gen Z28.....
By the time I got through pricing everything out ( doing it right) I could buy a few year old 911..... No brainer there....

@limp You and I should start a 'those were the days' (and yes I can hear the All In The Family theme in the background) thread.
I have always said that < for a car guy> growing up in the era I did was absolutely the best... All of the late 60's cars were a few years old and we were driving cars to High School that very few of us can afford to buy today.... LOL... What did Burt Reynolds say right before he died....... " What a ride"....
The gas shortage of 74 put a stop to that real quick.......

Todays effort, the start of the repro of the drivers side vent intake that sits in the cowl. This is a non ac car..

Ouch lot of rot in that spread over a few areas... Good thing in the majority of fox bodies share that upper rail brace and reinforcment so you can grab some of the sheetmetal when fixing it without the mustang tax.

Started putting in the rear upper cowl area patch today. Quit because it was 92 in the driveway.
