I have a chance to get a trick flow (I think it is a street heat) upper and lower intake for $400
is this a good deal and how well do they work. What size TB matches up with them

oh I should mention it is used....I don't know how to tell if it is a track heat or a street heat by looking at it. any way to tell

The street manifold is for EGR engines so the upper intake will have a small hole under the big hole for the throttle body opening and in the center of the runners on the lower flange of the upper. That intake is only $450.00 new?

Terrible deal. And 75mm tb is what matches up. You don't need a tb at your level, but 75mm is the ticket if you do get one. I sold my stret heat intake with a spacer for $275 years ago.

I sold it because I was building a 347 and it was too small. I went with the trickflow R. If I still had the 302 I would have swapped to an edelbrock rpm with a 75mm tb.

I think $400 is way too much for a used intake that only costs $450 new. I have the street heat currently. The only issue I have with the TFS intakes are that the mounting bolts aren't easy to get to. I had to grind on the intake to be able to get a swivel socket on two of the mounting locations. I was even using a stud kit rather than bolts and still had clearance issues. I think the street is a good intake for a mildly modded 302. Once you start adding a bigger cam and heads then it becomes a little too small. I'm seeing that now on my current setup. I'm planning on upgrading to the Edelbrock RPMII or the Holly Systemax.

As stated by bullitstang, that is a bad deal for something you can buy brand new for $450.

As for the throttle body, the intake opening is 75mm, but it necks DOWN to the 60-65mm range a few inches in. A 75mm throttle body is a waste of extra money that you could put somewhere else. A nice 65mm will flow plenty, for nice h/c/i combo's to mild strokers. I have never seen any information to the contrary and I have READ and EXPERIENCED my fair share of it

FYI: The Edelbrock Performer RPM is no longer being made. You may be able to find one locally or on Ebay.

That is what I would consider a typical deal, especially since it is the track heat version.

Dont mean to steal the thread but Im looking into a trickflow kit as well. Just wondering if $2500 for this kit sounds like a decent deal. Basically a trickflow track heat top end kit, everything included like gaskets and hardware to bolt it on, trickflow roller rockers (are they any good?), cam & pushrods inlcuded. The only thing I think Id have to buy seperate was the lifters. Everything is new. I thought it sounded like a decent deal?

Edit- I just noticed it even comes with a new timing chain/cover, and valve covers too.

Extra Notes:
The street heat intake has 15 inch runners and the track heat intake has 12 inch runners.

The street heat heads come with smog provisions and the track heat does not. The track heat heads can be ported a bit more because of this.

Both the street heat and track heat heads come with 3/8” rocker studs and the track heat heads can be upgraded to thicker 7/16” rocker studs. Just call your sales representative to get the upgrade.

Both street heat and track heat versions have the option to come with dual valve springs and 10* locks.

Twisted Wedge and Street Heat Heads are the same, not to be confused with Track Heat.

The trickflow h/c/i packages are more designed for the fox-body cars do to valve cover tallness and throttle body adapter plate not being included.
