Man! I can't WAIT to get my car back. As you may remember, I started the thread a little while back inquiring about the BBK intake manifold. After some thorough investigating, I decided to roll with the more traditional Cobra intake. But that's not where I've stopped.
While my car is under the knife, I've installed a Ford Racing mini-starter, a 7-quart Moroso oil pan (which looks absolutely sick nasty by the way), and some solid steel Moroso motor mounts. My intake is currently being sanded right now, and it will also go on with the Cobra valve covers. Apparently all of my intake hoses had dry-rotted, so of course those are getting replaced as well.
I've decided we're not done.
Now I've just ordered some MM FL sub-frame connectors, and will be ordering some slotted rotors and pads pretty soon.
Needless to say, I'm expecting my car to feel COMPLETELY different next time I drive it with the steel mounts (my rubber ones were busted) and sub-frame connectors. Not to mention, I'll finally be able to start my car when it's red hot due to my new mini-starter.
On top of all that, I will have gotten rid of the LAST bottleneck piece on my motor (not counting the stock heads 'cause those have been ported and polished) in reference to the stock intake.
The car's going to be SAFER and FASTER. Is there ANYTHING better than that?
Next, I will order some Tokico shocks, MM LCAs, and replace all my bushings with poly-urethane. But that's not going to be for a few months yet.
I never thought I would actually get on this project so soon, but it is coming along QUITE nicely, and knowing my car is in GREAT hands gives me a good peace of mind. My buddy went to tech school for engine fabrication so he can pretty much BUILD me a car if this one ever gets totalled. He makes everything look so easy, which I'm sure it is if you know what you're doing.
This whole project started b/c I wanted to install a roller valvetrain, but when he popped off the valve covers we discovered it already has one so I re-directed my funds into other useful and necessary items (like a mini-starter, SFCs, and mounts). The guy I bought the vehicle from did a NICE job on it it looks like. Now MY guy is doing a hell of a job on it as well. I guess it's just nice to know that you have approval from your master mechanic on the job that had been done to the vehicle previously before I owned it. You know what I mean?
So I basically bought a vehicle last year that was halfway done to the max, and now it's my responsibility to complete the project, and complete the project I WILL believe me.
So far since I've owned the vehicle I've done these things:
BBK cai, BBK 70mm TB, Pro-M 75mm MAF, Cobra intake, Moroso 7-quart oil pan, Moroso steel mounts, smog del., fixed intake AND exhaust leak, Holley fp, Optima battery (red top), Ford Racing mini-starter, and MM SFCs.
I feel like I've made some damn good decisions on this vehicle, and I intend to make even more. Soon, I will have a new Cobra 6-speed tranny and an aluminum flywheel. I will change the gears to 4:10s, and I will have the beast dyno-tuned. This won't take place until after I complete the suspension work though, b/c as we speak the vehicle absolutely can NOT get the horsepower to the ground on a stock busted suspension.
Once I strengthen it up, I will go all out. Just wait till I'm done, it should be a good time!
