OK so Im running an offroad H and Flows American Thunder, and have run this for the last 3 years. A guy by my work offered to trade my Flows catback for his Loudmouth exhaust straight up. Im thinking about it but want to know how much louder will it be? Regular driving and WOT? I know with the Flows the car can be heard for quite a distance.

I have the exact same setup you have now. A couple months ago I got a loudmouth catback handed to me, so I put it on. The difference in "loudness" is plain out rediculous. If you think the flows are loud, my friend you are in for a rude awakening. I was scared to rag on it from stop lights cause it was so damn loud. And I mean LOUD! The flows are mild as hell in comparison.

SLP good: awesome at idle, great sound cruise. Half throttle 2,500 to 4,500 or so sounds good too.

SLP bad: High RPM or WOT will make you paranoid and give you a headache.

I would like to note that I am NOT bashing SLP in any way. A catted pipe would calm it down, so would the LMII's. I'm seriously considering purchasing a set of the LMII mufflers to use instead as the quality/look of the SLP catback is outstanding compared to the flows. The SLP LMI's are simply too loud and raspy for my taste when paired with an o/r h.

I hope this helps.

Well if its not much louder at cruise or regular driving then I might do it. High RPM and WOT when Im not worried about the fuzz being stupid loud I could deal with. Hows the cruising on the freeway at 2500-2800 RPM (I have 4.10 gears)?

I'd personally turn it down, LM1's are simply horrible in sound IMO. Now the quality of catback is a totally different story.

Now I am not too sure but arent the Loudmouth 1's louder, and the Loudmouth 2's have less resonance?

you are correct

the II's are similar to Magnapacks where as the I's are pretty much straight pipe

The fact that he wants to basically trade "down" makes me believe they are 1's, because it seemed like more people disliked them.

Do the trade cause the slp catback is a much better catback and stainless steel too. The Lm1's are really Nascar loud and I like them with a o/r x pipe. I had them on my 03 with an o/r x and 4.10s and as long as you are at 65 or 70mph you are good but really anything over that it is rediculiously loud and you can't hear anything. But if you don't like them just buy some lm2's and swap them in. The mufflers sound the same but are not as loud.

If you like your sound now, I wouldnt do it. LM1's sound like ass- IMO they sound very obnoxious.

Loudmouths sound awful. If you like the way a dump truck sounds, go with the loudmouth.

I like the sound of the Loudmouths, and Im tired of Flows; its all Ive ever used. And now it seems everyone and their grandma is cruising with Flows. Now if I had a stroker motor with lumpy cam, then I would go with some Super 44's. But the Loudmouths would definately set me apart since their are 3 other Mustangs on the street I work.

I think I'll ask him to bring it in and I'll take a look at it all and if it seems in good shape.... then I'll really think about it.

It's love it or hate it deal, I know that the quality and looks alone..Flows has nothing on SLP.. I love my LM, yes..it's loud when you stomp on it!! My magnaflow w/high flow cats has helped tone down some noise.. At 75 or 80 miles is still loud.. so do I do? turn up my radio, problem solve!! it's raspy and I love it. not a typical mustang sound.. I'll say..get it

The SLP Catbacks are all stainless & the quality is great..the tips are sick too, I run them on my car, but they sound like ASS imo...Way too loud & raspy....I probably would do the trade for the quality of the catback & then weld in some other mufflers like Bassani or Magnaflow....

That's the only thing that I don't like about my Flowmaster Cat Back is that it is not stainless.
