Lowering Spring Comparo

Ok, with the exception of Eibach, who makes the best lowering springs for the money? How's the ride, handling, all things that are to be considered. I found a set of Laurel Mountain Mustang Lowering Springs for $144.00. Are they any good? I know about the Eibach's, I want to know about the rest of them out there, I know there are many manufacturers and many opinions, I am not looking to set the frame on the ground, just a nice 1 and 1/2 to 2" drop. Also, I am running 275/60/15 BFG's Drag Radials, and my fenderlips are rolled, but these tires are big, and they are on 4.5 backspacing wheels, so does anybody know or experienced with this same tire and wheel, if the back can come down an 1" or 2? Post any pics you may have and want to post, I'll welcome all pics and opinions. Thanks.

I run Ford C springs. They lowered my 85gt about an inch. They ride pretty good, minus the drag shocks. lol. And they have nice handling atributes. Good for a moderate to stock ride with more performance in mind.

If you want good, then go with something from Maximum Motorsports, H&R, don't know if Tein makes Mustang springs or not.

If you want cheap, I am running springs from Mustangs Unlimited. ($150 if I remember right) They are apparently made by Eibach. The drop is nice and the handling is decent for a Fox body. The ride was crazy harsh though. If you haven't replaced shocks in a while then its probably a good idea to do so. I just popped in some Tokico HPs and the ride is much improved.

I am really looking more for the cheap route, since I don't have to drive it every day. I have used Eibach's before on another vehicle and they were awesome, but thinking back, I paid like $250.00 for just the springs and then another $150.00 for install. So this time around, I am thinking the cheaper springs may be the way to go. It's not a show car, it is more of a weekend play toy. I just found out that my rear tires need replacing, so the cheaper the better. Now, my tires will be more than my springs.

is the install something the do-it-yourselfer can do? I know the rear is, how bout the front?

I Bought the Bullitt Suspension for my 92 GT, it lowered the car about 3/4" and it handles and rides great and the price was around $400 which isnt bad considering you get the Springs, Struts, and Shocks.

I did it myself. I'm sure there are plenty of write ups here on how to do it. Just search around. Its not all that bad. I didn't have the right tools for my job which made it a PITA but I somehow always manage to invent something that works.

Very True! I invested in the correct Ford Spring Compressor (Expensive), but it made the job of the front springs MUCH easier!

I too, did this.... and did it myself, just don't rush the job and PAY ATTENTION the front springs can play hell on you if you are not careful.

If by play hell you mean kill you, then yes that is accurate. At least thats what I hear.

One word of advise is to put the car on jack stands and put your jack under the control arm to keep constant pressure on the spring as you disconnect the struts. This will keep it from flying out and hitting you.

im gonna be ordering some springs from maxspeed, real cheap, 118 brand new and that with shipping included, they drop the front 2inches and 1.8 inches in the rear, heres the link look here
