Yes, I've searched already. My questions are these:

1 - Is the foam of a coupe's rear sport seat different than a standard seat?
2 - Can you convert a standard seat by putting sport upholstery over its foam?

I'm not interested in information about hatchbacks, convertibles, or front seats. I'm specifically asking about 91-93 coupe rear seats. TIA

From my understanding the only difference in cushioning on Coupes is due to the different lap seatbelt location in '87-'90 and '91-'93 and hence a slightly different bottom cushion. I've had my seats re upholstered due to fading and I'm very happy with them. The foam is soft for a full grown adults weight, but these cars were not designed as full sized cars.

With regards to the OPs question regarding 91-93 Coupe rear seats, there is no difference in the foam.

You can put the sport upholstery from a 91-93 5.0 coupe onto the same foam as the 91-93 base (2.3L) rear seat.

1990 coupes all had the base interior which is the same as the 4-bangers, but with that said ALL 90-93 rear coupe seat foam is the same.

Thank you very much. This is exactly the answer I've been searching for. Looking closely, the two styles are very similar, but I just wasn't 100% sure. I figured Ford would save a few bucks by using the same foam in the rear as they are nowhere near as sculpted as the front seats.

The only difference is the seat belt location in the bottom cushion due to shoulder harnesses '91-'93.

90-93 is shoulder belt and the bar retaining the lower cushion, 87-89 is the clip in lower and no belt cut outs.. Foams pretty much the same otherwise. My rear seats where redone in the 90's on my 90 coupe to match the opal leather 93 cobra sport seats that where swapped in it with a power track, never saw another like it until acme and tmi started doing the repo upholstery kits with a leather option, done many since then with those kits.

Awesome info. Thanks again, y'all. Now I won't have to search for a sport rear seat for my project.

Nope.

You just need to make sure the seat bottom is a 90-93 bottom with the slots to pass the buckles through. They mount differently to the floor pan than the earlier seats.

Seat back is the same for 87-93.

No problem, you can mix the hatch lower cushions from the same years too if you can only find a notch upper rear seat back from the older years, lot of cars I bought as projects where missing seats and finding a matching set used sucks for coupes.

Man, y'all are the best! I always thought the hatch bottom cushions could be the same. It just makes sense from a production and cost standpoint.
