I replaced my GT taillight lenses with a pair of 86 & older pair, but it's not sitting flat with my hatch lid like the old GT lenses was, it looks like the hatch is sticking out more that it was. Do I need the housing to do that? or does it matter if I took it out from a hb or a coupe? I have a 87-93 LX style too, is that gonna work better? attached is a pic.. thanks!

Welcome to the club. That is just how they fit since the lenses aren't as thick.

No, the 87-93 LX lenses are more "bubbled" and you won't have the same problem as the 86 GT lenses.

I'm part of this club also, I bought a pair of the 86 GT's, stripped them black, and they are not flush either.

Does this mean the 87-93 hatches are longer and the 86's were shorter?????????? Although I wouldn't change a hatch based on this, would this indeed cure this problem or was it the same story?

Either way, this doesn't bother me and my car looks more like a Cobra or SVO anyways.

well, it just bothers me cuz, my car is banged up bad enough by the previous owner, now it looks like the hatch isn't put together right

and plus, not to say it of bad taste, but almost everybody has LX tails though, if my GT's look at least a tad better than it does ( I'm gonna try to paint it), I would keep it. I like LX tails, dont get me wrong..
