Hey, I swear this is my last thread about the issue :D, but I want to sum everything up and ask a few final questions.

http://www.stangnet.com/content/view/6//

This is StangNet's Tech Article on the MAC Straight Shot CAI. It claims to have 17 RWHP in independent testing, and MAC themselves claim up to 25. For the price, this was especially appealing to me. Then I saw the rebate...

http://forums.stangnet.com/showthread.php?t=489454

Even more savings! Coming around $255 shipped, this got me excited. But I started a thread about the issue, and people claim that messing around with the induction and MAF just leaned out the engine, creating obvious problems. I was disappointed, and almost moved on, but then I realized I have a SCT tuner! I also picked up a few lines here and there about how the engine needed to be retuned to use the straight shot and MAF effectively... which I can do! Awesome! I think

My big question is, can I elliminate all side effects with a specialized SCT tune? Giving me all the HP without any hassle or worries?

That'd be nice :D

Some other questions I have. What will the MAF improve exactly, once it has been tuned for the engine?

Does the package that the rebate is for <<<<HERE>>>> include the following:

-The MAC Straight Shot CAI that the tech article is about
-The MAF

Thanks a whole lot!

I bought the straight shot w/maf and the car started pinging at all rpm's at operating temp. Switched back to the stock maf and the car ran fine. I called Mac and the tech said that I would need a custom tune to run the other maf. I dont notice much difference in the 2 mafs but the car could be pulling some timing out when it starts pinging with the other maf. You may be able to retune with the SCT I dont really know. As far as what the other maf will improve, the only thing I could see is maybe flowing just a little more air than the stock maf. But then again Steeda says that the stock maf is good for up to 400hp. That's why on their cai they don't have a maf with it. Just try it and see and let me know because that may be the way I have to go to use mine.

Well like I said in the first thread you made, the larger MAF on a N/A mustang will do nothing. If you get a tune which you need to get rid of the pinging with the mac maf the only power you will gain is from that tune and that tune only.

On a N/A mustang the only thing a aftermarket MAF does is empty your wallet.

My advice is put the stock MAF back in sell the mac one on ebay and put that money toward something that will actually gain power like cams or headers and THEN get a tune.

A third Amen to that!

Sorry for the double post, but just focusing on the Straight Shot CAI itself, is there any mod out there for that little money that brings that much supposed HP?

Also, does the CAI itself do any harm?

There are probably about 2 dozen or more cars on the modular depot with 300+ rear wheel hp and I bet none of them uses that CAI, hell most of them are probably still using the stock tube that should say something right there.

If you want to buy it go for it but it will not get you the power that it claims.

Get some gears instead.

Well you should argue with Chuck at Pro3i Ind. that has tested the straight shot w/ stock maf and has seen 17hp on the dyno. Even Steeda has claimed 15hp with their cai and they are well known for their products and knowledge on mustangs. Their cai looks almost the same as the mac cai.

pro3i is a distrubitor and steeda claims they saw that but what was it on? a blower car what. I believe that on a blower car but a stock cammed and headed N/A car come on wake up.

First of all I'm not talking about replacing the maf just the cai kit. Second , all i know is what mac and steeda has claimed and told myself personally over the phone. That may be a sells pitch but dont you think Steeda has been aroung long enough and tested their products enough to know what works and what dont works. I would trust them over Mac any day.
