Mach 1/Bullitt Shift Knob won't fit Triax

So now what do I do? Is the triax threaded different than the stock handle? Do they make bullitt shift knobs that fit the triax? This is a ford part that is supposed to fit 1999-2004 shifters. I don't understand why the stock knob fits but this doesn't. Thanks for any help.

I dunno man, from what Ive always read, it fits like the stock one. I dont remember hearing of this problem before so I dont think anyone makes a knob just to fit a triax. Maybe the threads are messed up on it. Do you still have the stock shifter? Try it on that and see if it even fits that one, then contact whoever if the threads are wrong. Hope you get it sorted out.

What do you mean it doesn't fit? I sure hope it does because I just ordered one for my tri-ax. Anyone else have a problem fitting this knob on a tri-ax?

I have the Tri-ax and the Bullitt knob. What do you mean "doesn't fit"? As in it faces the wrong direction?

i had a tri ax and bullit knob on my 00gt and my mach1, took a couple trys to get the shift pattern lined up, but other than that it fit just like it did on the stock shifter

Triax here with bullitt nob. no problems with it fitting

Fit on mine but I couldn't get the pattern to line up and I got tired of trying so I just used my UPR Bullitt style knob with the allen bolt (to secure knob in place) instead. Both fit fine though on my Tri-ax. Maybe you got a defective part of do you think you could have cross threaded it by accident?

What I mean is the knob will not thread onto my shifter handle.

It says it's for a T-5 or T-45 transmission. So I guess that's why it won't work since I have the TR-3650. But it also says it will fit all GT's from 1999-2004. It also has a chrome/polished look so I'm wondering if this is an actual ford part.

I found the problem. The shaft of the Triax below the threads was too fat. I shaved it down with a dremel and it went on fine.

I just received my Mach 1 knob and except for the 10 min of fustration I spent trying to line up the pattern, it went on perfect.

The ad says " The shifter ring will fit all Mustangs from 1999-2004 however the knob will only fit T-5 and T-45 5-speed manual transmissions" then says "The knob will fit all GTs and V6s from 1999-2004 however will only fit on the 1999-2002 SVT Cobra (excluding the 2000 Cobra R)". Uhh what??? Seems like he is trying to confuse people into buying it.

A lot of stuff that is for sale on ebay can be found on a legit webstore for the same if not a LOT less. People put a bunch of crap on ebay and claim it is something it is not. My dad works for GM parts and there was a guy who made his living buying old camaro and el-camino parts from him and selling them on ebay for a LOT more. It seems that people just didn't know where to look for the parts so they immediately went to ebay first and this guy made lots of cash because of it. Just my opinion though, because I have seen way too much crap out there.

The easiest way i've found to the get the pattern to line up is to get a rubber O ring from home depot and put it between the boot and the knob. This allows you to squish the ring to get that nice tight feeling while being perfectly lined up.
