Mach 1 Grille Delete Install

I have the STEEDA Mach 1 Grille Delete, and I went to install it today...ran into some troubles.

Primarily, after you take out the top rivets/screws (on the stock grille), you then need to bend the grille foward and reach under to unscrew the 7mm bolts (4?). Ok, maybe its my socket wrench, but i can BARELY fit my hand, the wrench AND the 7mm adapter in there. And i dont want to bend the bumper too much or it might break. When i DO get the socket on the bolts, it wont turn... Is there another way to do this? Because im having some difficulty with those 4 7mm bolts...

yeah, the bolts took me about 30 minutes to get out.
Take the head lights out, it lets the bumper lift a little higher.

yikes, i hope the headlights are easier to take out then they were on my 98GT because if they aren't, i am NOT doing that. lol

You've never taken them out?

I used a box end wrench instead of a socket. It took some time and was a definite pain, but the wrench slips under the bumper cover easily.

The headlights on the GEN2 are simple to remove and replace - just pull out 2 slide clips and the whole headlight comes out. Then disconnect the electrical sockets for the headlight and side light.
And you can bend the bumber cover pretty good without fear of it breaking...still, it's a tight fit.

Yes, pull the bumper up some. Also, 2 clips to remove the headlights. Hope this helps.

I just used my hands.

Don't even let me begin to tell you how much of a pain in the ass that was.

[edit] the bumper can bend pretty far, too...

don't fear bending the bumper... that's what I did, then I jumped online and seen some instructions and how far they bent the bumper. Pulled it out further and it was a snap

i know that urethane bumper is felxable, but....i do NOT want to break, flex or do anything to that paint or bumper...

Ah F it, maybe i'll just do it. lol

I was afraid too but I ended up lifting it pretty damn high.
