Made a "Responsible" Choice Tonight

When I was big into racing we would go up in the mountains at about 3 in the morning. We would actually compare performance of the cars. A drag on a old lowly traveled highway, then a road course run up the curvey mountain rd. We called it the "race to the line" b/c at the top of the mountain you would be in NC. We didnt see who could zip in and out of traffic the fastest. We also had "squatters" that would run the road first then sit at both ends and give a beep beep on the Nextel if any cars are cops were coming. The road had no other roads coming off of it for about 5 miles so it worked well, no houses either. As safe as you could be racing on the street. You would also be suprised that cars with 500+hp wouldnt do worth a crap on the road course. My truck was one of them. Cobras/GTs and Camaros didnt do as well as expected. One guy who had an SVT Focus with a turbo almost always won in the hills.

And im not regretting it.

I was coming home from work, stopped to get some gas.

Pull up to the pump and there is a Civic and a 350-Z at the pump next to me. 3 kids (younger than me probaly) staring at my car.

I get out, one of them says (with his hat on backwards and cocked to the side) "aye, you wanna run dat thing?".

I looked at him and said... "What, against those two cars (chuckled a little)?"

He said... "Yea main, and SRT-4's, Evo... a bunch of us".

I told him no, I wasnt looking to get wrapped up in that trouble, plus I saw a cop heading towards their meeting spot.

He blew that off and they left.

So after I got gas, I went over to said meeting spot and there were SO MANY RICERS and no domestics that I saw. I started laughing and just cruised by a little.

Everbody there (probaly 20-25 people) stopped an looked dead at my car... So I gave them a little rolling 2nd gear burnout salute and went on my way.

No way I want to get caught up with a bunch of high school ricer kids street racing on a well known highway...:ban:

Part of me wanted to run, but the other part wants to enjoy my licence and car for a long time to come.

you did the right thing man...bet you woulda done the same thing if it woulda been an f-body meet...minus the burnout lol

If you are into street racing thats how it should be done. These guys dont have a clue, and its scary.

Thanks, yes, and true...:rlaugh:

Well, I think they drew too much attention to themselves while they were out there.

I went by last night (nail + tire = trip to the carwash every day, hah) and they said they meet Wednesdays and Fridays...

I pull up, place is EMPTY except for what appeared to be a cop sitting in the back of the parking light... if it was, it was an unmarked car.

However, I go to leave out of the parking lot the back way and it is blocked with a concrete barrier... lol.

Meaning, there is only 1 way in, 1 way out... so if they return, they are fawked when the cops converge on them.
