I got pics but I will have to wait till I go to my other half's and use her computer cause mine sucks ass.
I took my antenna off and put it in the vice loosely and pulled a few times and got the ball off the end. Then I cut where I wanted it witch was around the roof line. made the antenna so it would fit the ball agian using the grinding wheel on the bench grinder and tapped the ball back on with a small hammer. Stripped the black paint off using the wire wheel on my trusty bench grinder and them buffed it after switching the wire wheel out for the buffing wheel. Looks like a shorty billet one know and it only took about 15 minutes and cost nadda. Looks way cleaner than a 10 foot whip antenna I'll post pics later tonight.

You do know of course, that FM antennas are supposed to be a specific length for the band and frequency that they're intended to receive. It'd be interesting to see how well it performs.

...and of course an 1/8 wave antenna would be half as much as the 1/4 and tend to provide pretty good gain.

I did mine as well and nothing is different. I drive an hour and a half to work and the frequency doesn't get fuzzy or lose the station and it's been like that for 5 years now.

Bah ... just unbolt the thing and get an antenna delete plate. There's nothing worth listening to on FM anymore, anyhow ... hence the booming markets for MP3 players and satellite radio...
