My buddy just got a stock 96 GT, and he is looking into getting exhaust, for now he said all he wants to do is swap out the mufflers, and keep the stock exhaust set-up except for the mufflers.

He has narrowed it down to two different mufflers, the 40 series dual chamber flowmasters. And the strait through no chamber no baffle magnaflows.

I told him to go with the flowmasters, but I think you guys will know a little better than I will. With stock exhaust which muffler would give the car a louder, deeper, beefier sound. Well thanks for the help if you have any questions that would better help you give me a more accurate response then go ahead and ask away.

If you want loud and irritating go with Magnaflow. Flowmaster is the best sounding exhaust for Mustangs. There is a reason they have been popular for so long.

flowmasters on 5.0's sound good. the only problem is that everyone has them. flowmasters drone too much on the 4.6L. i like Magnaflows better on the 4.6L.

Wow, thats the first good explination i have heard from someone on why they dont like flowmaster. You think it drones bad on 4.6.... ill give you a ride in mine at 2000 rpms for about 5 minutes and then give you a hearing test

My neighbor actually has magnaflows now that i think about it. It does sound pretty nice and it does scream at WOT.

Wow I am surprised that so many people like the magnaflows more, I figured with the popularity of the flowmasters that more people would like them. But I have yet to hear the magnaflows, I like the sound of the flowmasters, but I will have to hear the magnaflows, does anyone have an exhaust clip of the magnaflows?

If a company like Flowmaster is nicknamed "Blowmaster" by its customers....there is a reason. Go with Magnaflow Magnapacks!! I can hear my friend in his '02 GT 3 towns away when he goes WOT, no kidding!

Both sound great to me - I had the hardest time deciding which to get for my own Stang...

It really comes down to personal preference. If at all possible, hear both setups in person. Not trying to dis anyone's sound clips, but they really don't do any justice to how good these cars sound in person. I went w/ the Magnapacks and catted X and couldn't be happier - I just wish I had two Mustangs so I could have Flowmasters on the other
