Magnaflow vs. Flowmaster

Just go by your favorite sound. Every guy will pull for his brand he has because they think its best. Guys with Flowmasters will call Magnapacks Magnaass and the reverse is Blowmasters. Some guys like the hollow sound and some guys like it deep sounding.

I will try and post some more videos tomorrow but here is the Flowmaster install video for a late model 4.6 stang it has a sound clip at the end.

I had a flowmaster cat back on my 5.0. It droned pretty bad. The MagnaFlows pretty much don't.

MagnaFlow should be what goes on a 4.6L unless you really like the older Flowmaster sound. You have to listen to both and then decide.

TRY THIS.......

:nice: I have choosen a exhaust set-up that has made me a very happy GT owner. I have as listed below, the Dyno-Max Ultra-Flo's and a Bassani ORXP. The car has a very unique and EVIL sound. The different sound was a big point for me,...didnt want to sound like the rest ( nothing against the rest) :nice: Wish i had a sound bite for ya, ..but im not that computer savy as of yet. Hope this may have helped you or anyone out there.

Dyno-MAX...isn't that the STOCK mufflers? I thought Ford OEM is Dyno-max?? If not, what is? Where ya get the dyno-max from? Definately never heard anyone recommend dyno-max before...

In my opinion, I love my Flowmaster American Thunders. They keep that V8 sound.. my first Mustang I ever had was a V6 and I put a Magnaflow on their and it made it sound like a lawnmower. From my expirence with my Magnaflow, I'd had to second Flowmaster. Very agressive sound and that classic V8 roar. There's just something about the Magna's I don't like.. while the pitch is in some ways low, there's a high end to the Magna's that remind me too much of rice at times.. sorry guys, not bashing the Magna, but just giving my 2 cents worth. :D

What do you guys think about MAC exhaust? I'm also trying to decide which exhaust to get for my car but I want a deep low muscle sound and trying to stay away from the popping sounds as much as possible.

I got the magnaflows welded in stock pipes because I wanted it quiet

my 2nd choice was mac, thats what I had on my old car, sounded better than any flowmaster car around my area, should put mac's on this car too

If I do a catback ever I think I'm going mac, I also have prochamber already on

This is the dilemma I find myself in many times during the year. I am so split between the two that I actually flip back and forth! It's honestly like having a different pair of shoes for the stang to wear- I probably spend half the year with my flows, then switch over to my Magnaflows. (I can swap catbacks with my eyes closed now) I originally bought flows and had them for 2 years, then the Magnaflow craze came about and I went with a magnaflow catback. Case in point- they are both 2 great sounding systems that I honestly could never decide on just one- so I switch back and forth! I guess I just need variety in my life :nice:

...He has narrowed it down to two different mufflers, the 40 series dual chamber flowmasters. And the strait through no chamber no baffle magnaflows...

Two different animals here, chambered mufflers VS straight-through mufflers.

A bit of info & my own opinion:

While Flowmasters sound good on a 5.0 and give the foxes that "definitive 'stang muscle car sound," they really don't offer too much in the way of performance gains. Plus, they sound a little "weird" on the modular 4.6L motors - again, my opinion.
The chambered-style mufflers (MAC, Flowmaster, etc) are loud & known for an annoying "drone," as you probably already know. They also don't offer much of a performance gain, but they are probably slightly better than a stock exhaust.

On the other side of the fence, you have your straight-through muffler products, such as Magnaflow, Bassani, Dynomax, etc. These mufflers tend to be on the quieter side (compared to their chambered muffler counterparts), but they deliver gobs of performance due to their "straight through" internal design - they have an exotic-like sound to them, and if you combine them with an offroad midpipe, you might have a combo which is equally as loud at WOT.
