Major problems, please read and help me!

Alright heres the problem, i just got done reinstalling my motor and trans, i had it out to put on the FRPP shorties, new exhuast gasget, new valve gasget, new fly wheel and clutch amongsta few other things, got it all done today (or so i thought) fire it up and it was running pretty rough, i figured myabe it needed to run a little but it still ran like crap, didnt seem to be timed right at all....if i gave it the slightest bit of gas it would bog and shake the whole car, i also noticed the smell of gasolin (rich?) so i shut it down and rechecked all connections, keep in mind that i deleted the EGR system( maybe my problem?) becayse if my header install, so i caped th eger and got rid of the DPFE sensor...so i checked everything and noticed that the passenger side header seemedd to be very hot for running such short period of time(blistering the high temp paint off) so here i am.........no car and up *****s creek witha turd for paddle......please help me troubleshoot!

any and all help is GREATLY appriciated!

thanks you,
ryan

its throwina chekc engine light but i dont havea code scanner yet, i tryd the thing where you hold the trip reset button and cycle through to the DTC's and it reported none...?anybody? would you guys think this is all because of my EGR system being gone or maybe a vaccum leak? its really runnin crappy....

didnt play with mass air at all, i did take it out of the car tho......and the battery was out for over a week so the computer should ahve reset....the big thing i dont understand, is that the passenger side header seems to be getting very hot, fast.....anyone have any idea?!?

ok you say its running rough but is the car seem to be missing on any cylinders or just runs rough. and you say when you tip in the gas it gets worse but at higher rpm does it want to clear up or does it want to die???

First things first double check everything again. you may have done this already but double check and make sure all the injector and coil pack wires are going to the correct cylinders. also double check your o2 sensor connectors and make sure you dont have them crossed. if these check out fine. check your fuel pressure. also just to eliminate any exhaust restriction issues such as a clogged cat try dropping the mid pipe from your headers and start it up and see how she runs. i know it sounds silly but it a process of elimination.

thanks for the help so far Stallion, i really appriciate it.......I have since double checked all my connections and the car runs the same with and without the x pipe...when i start it its rough but seems to mellow out, but if you just bump the throttle a little it kinda putts it way upa little (shaking the whole car), i just dont understand but i have come to a possible conclusion....call me an idiot but when i swap from a v6 auto to a 4.6 t45 setup i couldnt afford to get the trans harness ford wanted over a 100 for, so i just spliced the neutral safty wires so i could start my car, plugged in the VSS and the 02's.....and it was fine, one theing i never hooked up was reverse lights which i decided to take the two wires specified by the 99 ford wiring schematics for my car and make my own harness for the revers light sensor, now that it hink about it, my reverse lights arent coming on...im wondering if i may or may not if spliced ab 02 sensor wire (yes, i am a dumbass) so i guess i need to get back under there and undo what i did and retest.......think that might be whats impareing my car so bad?

The dumbass,
Ryan

ok i need too knwo if it is a dead miss. or a rolling idle. a dead miss i would recheck all plugs and injector wiring.

a rolling idle ( most likely) is probally a massive vac leak.

leave the 02 sensors alone. i am going too let you guys in on a secret. they don't do much. the 02 is a secondary sensor. it's very limited in ability so the PCM logic uses it just too double check the mixture. it is never used too make radical changes that would be necesary too cause your problem.

so anyways too me it sounds like a massive vac leak. this would explain the way it runs. the glowing header ( from running lean)

so far i think your on to my problem real good, I am going to just buy all the Egr stuff from ford and put it all on intstead of the delete, because i believe thats where its screwn it up (vac leak like you said) because it is a rolling idle, and i can pick up on a vac leak i belive is coming from where my EGR once was and is now capped off, so i will get to try that hopfuly by thursday for sure because i work 9am to 9pm everyday and thats my only day off, i will keep you up dated and thanks a million for the help, im glad i got somebody on here to rely on....i owe ya few beers!

thanks,
ryan

well im stumped, rouble checked all tripple checked all connections made sure all vaccum lines were where they needed to be or capped off and still not running any better, is maybe because i tookt he DPFE sensor off the car competely because its part of the egr tube assembly? i cannot figure this out....would maybe a short video clip help me out?

thanks,ryan
