The 70mm housing.
The factory mass air plug, someone had suggested it had an adapter plug for a aftermarket mass air meter.
This is a factory 55mm sensor (one of three) that I tried, and one of the 3 was known good.
This is the factory 55mm housing I was trying the F1ZFxxx sensors in.
Still haven't checked the codes yet though, I'll have to install the 55mm setup back on it and start it to get the codes because I erased them when I put the 70mm setup back on it the last time.

I am unable to identify your housing. I found a similar one on eBay. Seller says:

If it is a sensor for a 94-95 then your theory would hold water.
However I'd want to be certain just to know my air/fuel was exactly correct.

It appears that the previous owner's didn't know what they were doing.
I would ditch the MAF & housing & get something that will work properly.

A 70mm housing with a F2VF sensor will work perfect with an A9L and 19lb injectors.
There is little doubt that you have a 70mm/F2VF sensor.
And if that setup isn’t kicking out codes.... well if it ain’t broke... don’t try to fix it.
I don’t understand why the 55 housing/sensor is giving codes. Need to pull the codes and see what they are.
Or just run the housing sensor that works and be done with it?

If this was posted in a facebook group, there would have been ten replies already suggesting the OP to go carb to fix the issue. I personally would toss the mystery sensor in the trash and pickup one you know what it is and be done with it
The mystery sensor is a 94-95 Cougar/Thunderbird sensor. 70mm, and part number on the sensor (if it was OEM) would be F4SF-12B579-AA

This sensor is NOT compatible with the A9x ECU. It would probably communicate with the ECU, but the values won't translate properly. I could see why the previous owner selected it though, as the 70mm housing used with it directly fits the 87-93 intake duct work. If you look at a 94-95 Mustang MAF, you need to purchase an adapter as the MAF has a 4-bolt interface to the filter housing.
The sensor electronics that do work with the A9X processor have the part number F2VF-12B579-A2A. I do not know if the electronics will work when bolted to the cougar/tbird housing, but looking at pictures online, the two housings look identical other than the MAF housing style (couplings on both flanges, vs a bolt on MAF). I'd almost be willing to ber if you put a F2VF-12B579-A2A electronics on it, it may actually work properly.
Of course, who's to say that's not what the original owner did, but without a ford factory p/n to confirm, I wouldn't trust it.

Thanks so much Mustang5L5 for clearing up the mystery of the mystery housing lol! I will try to get me a F2Vxxx... Sensor for the 70mm housing hopefully that will fix my issue of it feeling flat in the upper rpms. I still don't understand why the stock 55mm housing and sensor makes the CEL come on. I am just guessing in a way. I have a 94-95GT MAF and that sensor looks identical to it internally other than being a flanged inlet/outlet style MAF. After looking at the sensor a bit more, it dawned on my that it was very similar to the early SN95 MAF. Ford used mostly 4-bolt flange MAFs, and went 80mm or larger in 1996 and started to go plastic as well. So looking around in the early 90's to cars with 70mm MAF sensors, there really is only the F2VF style which is flange style or the cougar/tbird style MAF.
It could also be a 1993 Cobra MAF, but those electronics are also not correct for the standard a9x computer. It's also a little bit more rare than the cougar/t-bird MAF

Who knows how well the parts interchange though. I've often read there is interchangeability among the various housing family groups. 55mm can mix, 70mm can mix, etc. How true that is...no idea.
