Does anyone know about how much rwhp and tq the stock shortblock can handle before it becomes a grenade......I'm trying to decide if i need to go out and buy a stronger shortblock for what I have planned for my car....I want to make 500 horse to the wheels boosted of course either turbo or supercharged haven't decided yet.....So if anyone knows let me know

500HP is pushing it... depends on the tune and how much u dog the car... i really wouldnt go over 400hp on a stock block... could split at anytime

It all depend on the tune,what you do with the car, what kinda power adder you use, how well its balanced, and just luck really....Well good luck..

i was pushing 450 and it was starting to have really bad blow-by issues.

i would say about 500rwhp is about when you need to start saving for that shortblock

450 is what most say is safe, I have seen people run 9s on them, and drive around on the street with 700rw.
But like stated above, could go at any time.

I dont think there is one magic number, and it depends on all the factors the people above said, but everyone i personally know that has made over 500 has not lasted more than a year. But they all also beat on the cars everytime they drove them.

i am starting to have some blow by issues i think, but i haven't done a dyno so i don't know what i'm pushing.

because this thread is started at least 3 times a week, it causes nothing but a big arguing match! the bottom line is a stock block can bust at 250rwhp, or it could hold 550hp for 3 years, its all on burrowed time!

What about the stock hyper pistons and rods? How much can they handle inside of that stock block?

Ford built these 5.0L roller engines as cheaply as possible,eg,thin block,Mickey Mouse bolts all around,eg,

5/16" rod,7/16" main and head,5/16" rocker arm and intake manifold bolts,weak main caps.10 head bolts per cylinder head.It`s a joke.

It`s a Mickey Mouse foundation for high performance use and I`m surprised at the HP levels some guy`s get before they blow up.

cheap maybe but its still reliable. but i am curious as to how much rpm the stock block can take. not reffering to the valvetrain at all because i know you need the supporting cam and springs to safetly rev high. but how much rpm will the bottom end take before maybe it needs new rods or rod bolts or any other precautious measure

ok, maybe it isnt a one response question... but if we get enough responses of educated opinions... he can at least get a general ballpark figure of what is "safe"... obviously things like an unsafe tune, driving hard, mileage, etc. will effect the life of the block, but no one needs to lock the thread... what harm is it doing any of us for being open? none really, plus i havnt seen this posted every three weeks... not trying to be a jerk to anyone here, but just because you dont care about it, doesnt mean its a worthless thread, that having said... ive heard 500rwhp is the max on a stock block if you expect it to last, considering you dont beat on your car... and yes, evryone does have an opinion....sorry to offfend anyone
