Ok....(sorry again guys) i tried to reset the computer and let idle and then drive moderately then let idle again.....but doesn't work....but here are the symptoms and this is what i notice....and this happens everytime to so many you guys know immediately what it is due to it's symptoms......

1. Once i start 88gt it'll start (sometimes) and then die out instantly.....

2. On a cold start.....will let idle and that's when surging occurs.

3. It surges sound as if the vehicle were on the verge of dying out.

4.Last i found out that 88gt overcomes this surging stage and begins to function normally after this......

what can i do to solve this? any guesses assumption on what this might be?....thanks again everybody

Does you mass air meter match your injectors? What is your fuel preasure set at?

I just went through all of this. Mine ended up being a combination of Fuel preasure being too high(now set at 38), Mass air meter matching injectors (24lbs injectors and 24 lbs mass air) and also clocking the mass air meter 90 degrees. My computer had a custom chip in it that I removed.

Do you know what computer you have? A9L or Z3X or other, this may make a difference. Cobra computers are programmed to look for 19lb mass air with 24lb injectors. However, I run a 24 lbs mass air with 24lbs injectors with a Cobra Z3X computer and my car runs fine now.

I really appreciate the response and info regarding this issue....to be honest (embarrassing to say) i don't know what computer's installed either.....also i wanted to let you know if it's relivant or not if this particular 88gt came with a lincoln towncar engine?.....where are the computer's located on my 88gt? and when i find it.....how will i determine what ecu to get?

Computer should be on the passenger side kick panel. Between the firewall and the door (that little panel there on the right)

thanks man....seriously.....that's the same spot my 300zx's ecu is.....i should've guessed,lol....but it's always better to ask instead of assume.....i'll be checking what ecu i have tonight.....but what ecu should i have is the question.......i have a 88gt (5spd) with a lincoln 85 towncar engine in it...

uhhh an 88 came speed density not maf.... If it was converted to mass air flow then yes check to make sure that your maf sensor is calibrated for your injectors... As far as surging goes i have been ALL around the block on this one... CHECK FOR ANY VACUM LEAKS!!!! thats what killed me!!!! my egr valve was shot so i had two vacum leaks the size of a quarter... Also the way i set my idle was by using this: unplug the iac motor and set the base idle screw to where you want it to idle, then adjust the tps to .90-.95 volts, then plug the iac back in and reset the computer. I have tried 5 million ways to set the idle, adjusting tps voltage, etc... and it seems to be a big debate over tps voltage and perfomance and once i deleted my egr, set the idle that way, it idles sweet.... let my know what happens..... and one thing, i dont recommend messing deleting the egr valve its just a simple fix till i can afford to get another one....
