Is the 505 a motor? If you mean a "502",you better have a real fast Mustang!! The "502" is a crate motor, and has stump pulling torque!! Not to mention alot of HP,depending on what model 502 he has.

where to begin....
First has to have had a motor swap. No Camaro came with a 502 biggest was a 427. That was during the 60's. IF its an 87-92 in that Iroc-Z body style it can only have a 350 as its biggest. Lingenfelter made a play toy in that body and it was a 350 punched out to a 383. Do a lil more research bout the car man sounds sketchy. It definately ain't the factory equipped motor. In that case,... God knows what could be done to that motor. If its really a 502 one of two things its been rebuilt or it runs like crap. Motor nutorious for fouling plugs and having compression and gasket problems as age wears in.

Camaro's never came from the factory with a 427.That was a special order motor, through Yenko,COPO,Baldwin Chevorlet,Nicky Chevorlet, ect.... The biggest motor that came in a camaro from the factory was a 396.The 502 crate motor is only about 10 years old.And has low enough comp. to run on pump gas!! The 78 z28 was a pretty cool car,had a 350 4 barrel, but only had about 180--190HP.

my little brother drives an 89 305 RS+. Of course I raced him, completely bone stock, even the stock air box. He had a CAI kit. Let me just say it was not even close. I just walked alll over him.

So have no fear.

I had a friend w/an 89iroc z28 350 auto, and an 88 rs 305 w/5spd. The auto 350 was a lot faster. If it was a rs 305, you should smoke him.

It was a 305. Can't believe I was that buzzed to say it was a 503 or whatever I said. But it was a 305 RS for sure.

That 3.8 6 cylinder they have used in the Camaro's and Firebirds before they discontinued the F bodies, would smoke that 305.There is nothing good or unique about that motor

Whats been done to it??, I think I remember an old car craft where they put some bolt ons ( ported gm performance heads, don't remember what kind, cam, intake, carb, full exhaust, ) to compare to a 302 ford. the 305 made around 260flywheel hp. I don't think the mag was to impressed.

I haven't seen a fast 305 yet... it's cheaper to swap a 350 in the cars.

Now back to the 505s, we have one on our site that runs in the 9s with a bit of juice flowing.

My cousin has a 91 Trans Am GTA with the 305 5-speed and it was pretty quick...until the rearend blew up. He can keep up with me, but he's yet to beat me. I've even raced him about 5 or 6 times.

I've also raced an 89 IROC 350 auto and beat him by about half a car length.
