I was getting out of my car and grabbing my keys at the same time, I happened to press a few buttons at once and my alarm has not been the same. I dont even think it is working right now. The light blinks rapidly, before if the car sat for longer than 1 minute, you could not start it without unlocking the car again, not anymore, it starts after sitting forever. The same with the trunk, if I popped it while the alarm was set, it would go off, now it does nothing. I looked in my manual and could not find anything.

Anyone else experience this?

I am still having this problem, the alarm doesn't seem to be working at all. I can still get in with key less entry, but that actual deterrent is not working.

Before if I were to get out of the car and pump gas or do something, then get in and try to start it, it would not start. I would have to press the unlock button on the fob, then it would fire up. Now, I don't have to, so something is not right.

This all start while I was getting out of the car one day and happened to press buttons all at once on the fob, while getting out. It is almost like the car is in valet mode.

Anyone know where to get some info on this?

My car came with a factory alarm. Horn would blow if you unlocked it with the key instead of the button. I seem to remember something about a valet mode, but it's been so long since I've used the factory system...

It does sound like some sort of vallet mode, and most valet modes are activated by pressing multiple buttons at once.

Have you tried just pressing a bunch of buttons at once again? As many combinations as you can think of. Won't hurt anything, it's not like our cars have a secret self destruct code... OR DO THEY???? If that doesn't work, just call your local dealership. I bet someone over there knows the answer and could clear this up over the phone in 5 mins. Just tell them your year and model and ask how to deactivate the valet mode.

And just to rule out the obvious, this is a car you bought new, or atleast you know the difference between a Ford alarm system and a system you might have gotten with the car if you bought it used? (No offense, but you never know who might not know the difference and just assume...)

Thanks. I might just have to call the dealer.

Yes, this is one that came from the factory, but I did not buy the car new. I know it is factory cause my Expedition has the same one and my friends 06 GT has the same FOB as well. :)

I called the dealer and they were no help. They told me they don't know and the only ones who know are the electricians and they cannot talk on the phone. If I would like to schedule an appointment, they can look at it??? WTF.

It actually works, it locks and unlocks and the horn beeps, but the siren is not working and I am able to start the car with the alarm set.

Have you tried diconnecting the battery to see if that would clear the system.

I would guess that if all power is lost, that the factory default setting would be "armed" and not "Valet". But then again, that would make to much sense for Ford.

yea, thats true... if you disconnet the battery and wait a while then hook it back up the alarm might sound for a while. all that will really tell you is the alarm is able to work.

i have a ford alarm too. isnt it just the little red blinking thing that sticks out a bit? is that the one you have? if so, you can push it in. that enables and disables valet mode!!! try it if thats the one you got.
