So I've been searching the forums while trying to figure out which tire combo is best for the 17x9" Saleen wheel made for 99-04s (the less offset in those wheels look good IMO).
And I've read all this talk about shorter/taller tires and I wondered if this has any effect on the computer systems in these cars.
For instance, according to this, Tire Height Calculator - Wallace Racing
a 275/40/17 tire (a size that seems to be the popular choice for 9" wide wheels) are 1.5" shorter than the stockers.
As many people there are doing this, I'm assuming the change in height is negligible? (i.e. speedo gets thrown off by just a couple of mph)
What about you 07+ guys with TPMS? Are you having any problems with shorter/taller/staggered tires?

You can set the revolutions per mile in a hand held tuner. The only time the computer will know is if the tires are different heights, but I believe it has to be a somewhat dramatic difference to really have an impact.

Yeah, I knew about the tuner.
If left 'uncorrected', will the computers start tripping?

I don't think so, it would just show you going slower faster than you actually are.

You will have more fender to tire gap.

a 275/40/17 tire is the same diameter as stock....

the 275 is .02" shorter than the stock 245/45/17

something is wrong with your tire size calculator, there isn't 1/8" difference between a 275/40x17 and a 245/45x17

As far as the tires, that combo will not look good. Especially if you're not lowered.

So what tires would you recommend for 17x9s?
I've decided against anything larger because I can't justify paying more for tires.

I do plan on getting k-springs though.

I run 275/40/17 drag radials just for the dragstrip and they look funny as they're too short (about 1.3" shorter than the stock 235/50/18's).

If you want to keep the same height as stock (roughly) and go wider than the stock 235/55/17's now that you'll have 17x9's, here's the sizing you should look for....

265/50/17, or 285/45/17
