Met the girl of my dreams today

I tried explaining to her that keeping me from chasing her mother around the bedroom is like keeping her horse's nose out of the feedbox.

You have to understand that Chance (aka "Life Moneymaker" aka Man o' War's great-great-great-grandson*) likes to eat only slightly less than he likes to run! And I like to eat only slightly less than her mother and I..... oh never mind.

* Yes, I counted the generations and that's how many "greats" to put in front of grandson.

At least I let Tink talk me into buying that "long form" pedigree from Jockey Club - now I know why the cranky Old Fart carries around that 'tude

Yea yea well I like Vicky's too and hey whaddya'all know I'll be in Fayetteville in a few months and theres a vicky's not 20- 25 minutes away from SVT's house. :Zip2: And I guess the old addage is true, you usually end up falling for someone with similar tastes as your parents. Thats okay just means SVT also enjoys going along for the ride to Vicky's. And I get one better I found out today, cuz there's a Fredricks up in Raleigh! :hail2: :hail2:

Just remember StDr- The apple really didn't fall too far from the tree apparently...:rlaugh:

Wow that's a long read!

I have two rules for marriage from lessons learned.

1) Don't get married until both of you are atleast 30 (people just don't know who they really are until then)
2) Live with them for atleast a year before marriage (you never really know someone until you've lived with them)

I wish I listened the first time.

Sorry to hear that; I guess you weren't as lucky as me, because Tink's mom and I are nearly at the quarter-century mark and:
1) Don't get married until both of you are atleast 30 (people just don't know who they really are until then)
I was 21, she was 22.
2) Live with them for atleast a year before marriage (you never really know someone until you've lived with them)
We did that; however I proposed to her (we were 19 and 20 at the time) about 4 hours upon first seeing her after she split up with the previous boyfriend. We'd known each other 18 months or so before that; but she was never without the previous guy; so I hadn't really thought about that kind of relationship with the girl...
I wish I listened the first time.
Maybe I was lucky.... all my siblings had had bad marriages by then; including one brother that was on his third marriage (they've been together 32 years now). I guess I managed to learn from their mistakes! :D:D :D

I wholeheartedly think it depends on the people and the individual circumstances.

Personally I don't plan on getting married for a long long time, at least another 5 years no matter who I find. And I plan on living with them for at least a year before setting the date.

BUT.... my parents.... My father was 17, my mother 15. House rule for my mother was no marriage until 21 (Irish family, she was 1 of 7 girls). They got married when she was 21, moved into their first house after the honeymoon and have been together for 23 years now. They still get along great and have a seemingly wonderful relationship. I'm the oldest of their three children, and have learned a lot from them.

Clearly not the norm, but it can happen.

:Damnit:
Too bad Tink slept thru that class!

Not my fault... completely anyway. I'll admit I made a lot of mistakes in that certain relationship we are all discussing. Trust me being the Irish Catholic kid raised by Mr and Mrs StangDreamin, the fact that my til death do us part failed so short already burned me enough. I had to learn the hard way apparently. But I did learn, and am happy to say I found someone who is willing to be patient with me and let me work it all through first. Which I'm glad to say I'll be up in NC in Oct, so I'll be up there with him once Uncle Sam sends him home.
