hey guys,

I'm looking for a car to replace the celebrity for college. B/c of the current gas prices and the way my 68 likes to eat up that $$$ 92 octane....I thought, i want another 4 cyl, hopefully a manual. but i was wondering what kind of milage you guys get with a setup like that.

everyone here has somethin a little different, so wether its N/a or tubbed, efi or carbed I just want some numbers here.....

I thought, i want to stick with another stang! and a 4cyl man. should get me some decent milage on 89 pump, especially if i tune it a bit lean.

thanks for the input!

The epa figures for the fox body 2.3l are 19 or 21 city( depends on the year) and 26 highway. I get around 29 mpg in combined city/ highway and over 30 on the highway, but thats driving nice. Driving a little harder gets me closer to 23 mpg.

I have a 1990 hatchback with no mods except CAI and running my tires up to max sidewall rating of 44psi.

I used to get 29-30 mpg in my '90 2.3L 5 speed, doing mostly open road driving (I did very little city traffic driving at the time).

I don't really know how much "tuning" for mileage you could really do on those things. They're lacking for power and bolt-ons don't really help, but like I said, mileage is decent.

My Bird has about 3-4 times the power my Mustang did, and it will still average about 26 on the highway and 21-22 around town.
