okay, its install day for my MM full length SFC's and i'm curious if anyone knows the best way to lift the car? Me and a buddy are doing the install and the instructions say that it should be lifted by the tires to avoid twisting the frame. The only way I can imagine lifting the car by the tires is to drive it up on a pair of ramps which brings the front end up. Is this okay? Is there any other way to do it?

Get 4 good jackstands and put them under the rear-end and the front control arms. BUT be careful they are all the exact same height!!!

Did you do this, or is it just a CS suggestion?

Just buy a second set of ramps. Drive up on one set, then lift the car and lower it onto the other set of ramps. ....dang...I needa get mine done still

This is just a suggestion. The best way is to get it on a drive-on lift.

I would go with the 2 sets of ramps that way you know the car is level. You dont want to weld those SFC's on with any twist in the body. I think walmart sells ramps for like 30 a set. I have to sets I use when I adjust my coil overs and and stuff like that.

If I remember correctly, the vehicles weight needs to be on all 4 wheels in order for the installation to be done properly.

Update: its day 2 of the installation. Worked out a pretty good lift situation. We used cinderblocks under all four wheels. Very stable, supports the whole tire, and all we had to do was jack it up in the rear, slide the blocks in and move to the front to repeat. Now if we can just find a welder that won't die on us, we'll be okay. 3rd one ought to be the charm!

I think this is a stupid question but does the computer need to be disconnected or at least the battery disconnected when you install these? Wouldn't wanna fry it sending juice through the sub-frames while you are welding..Like I said, it is a stupid question.

Well the first welder was a 20y/o pos, and the seals gave out on the generator, then used my other buddies little plug in guy but the wire feeder crapped out, then had to rent another little plug in guy and it kept over heating so the job took 4EVER, but, in the end the whole thing cost me a case of beer and $40.00
