I have to ask if anyone with long tube headers has cut off the cone/inverted flare connection to opt for a slip on or in connection from header collector to mid pipe? This seems logical because the inverted cone is reduced to 2.25"outlet from a 3" collector and 2.25 seems to be restrictive in the scheme of things.
So,1: Is it worth the work to eliminate this connection
2: What about the connection at the back of the mid pipe assy.? do the same there where it is reduced? Is there much to be gained?

Someone actually makes those....or used to at least. From what I recall, they did a dyno test on it in one of the magazines and it was good for like 10 or 20hp. Mind you, that was on a 400+ horse stroker if I do recall. People done do it cause they have to modify the exhaust instead of just buying simple bolt together kits though.

Nice! I like that idea. 3 inch V-bands are common on Diesel exhaust so they wouldn't be hard to sorce. Do you stay 3" all the way? or do you reduce with 3.0 to 2.5? What about where the mid pipe joins the cat back pipes, what do you do there?

10-20 HP? that's 1-2 mph off the top. Maybe it is worth while.
