Molding the fenders

I got finished today with hiding the wires and putting the car back together and I got out some cardboard and mocked up a template for me to use to mold my fenders smooth. I'm going to look around some places tomorrow to see if I can find any sheet metal that I'll be able to use. Heres a few pictures of what its going to look like. After I get done with the fenders, I'm going to move onto other parts of the engine bay that I can get to with the engine still in it, then finally pull it out to finish the rest of the body work and paint it. I'm probably going in over my head on this one

That looks really good so far. Nice job! Im gonna start on mine this winter when I swap in the 418. I know it's gonna be a big job, but I think Im ready for it. Keep us updated on your progress!

I'm going to be picking up the sheet metal tomorrow on my way to oinks house where we're going to make better templates... Might have the pieces cut out tomorrow and MAYBE tached in place. Bondo is going to soon be my best friend

twins are scrapped... too many problems with oil and exhaust pipes.. I'm waiting on some hotside parts for a new single turbo so I figured I'd start this while I'm waiting. This is the turbo I'm going to be running. Master Power T70 ball bearing 60.5mm

I hate and love you all at the same time, I wish I could afford a turbo, but its all good becuase Id probably kill myself with it anyway. Good luck with molding the fenders, metal work is fun....

I was actually going to spray it with left over paint from when I painted my car then clear coat it. This will be an ongoing project over months probably. Just something to keep me busy

No ceramic paint needed! Base coat clear coat will be fine for the inner fenders. I spray it on engines all the time No problems at all with heat. Looks good keep posting pictures of the metal work!

sure will. I picked up a 2' x 3' sheet of 22 gauge sheet metal and I'm going to start making better templates than that I have right now. Might try that tomorrow? If not I'm going to defently be working on it come this weekend.

You are right, but with a turbo setup, he'll need to watch the paint. Making sure to wrap the turbo up well, in heat insulation.

My turbine is about 10" from the body work, and i already have a hairline crack from the heat. Also my hood has blistered and peeled up, from the heat.. So be sure to cover that hotass turbo in a thick blanket!

Today I got some a new template made for the drivers side. It SHOULD work on the pass side since it looks the same. I'm going to start cutting the sheet metal out in a little bit. Working outsite in near 100 degree weather isnt any fun Heres the pic's of the new template I made. Looks a lot nicer than the cardboard that I used before

Good thinking with the fenders. I did the same thing back in march when the motor was out, but I went a different route and used fiberglass. If i could go back and do it again, which i will. I would use sheetmetal. Here are a few pics of mine
