Aww don't say that! I felt the same way after breaking the oil feed hose installing it, then waiting a week to recieve a new part...low and behold they send me the WRONG part! Another few days and I had it going "FINALLY".

Did you ever find any vacuum leaks? You told me you were reading 11kg at idle correct? Most cars usually idle between 15~20 - and I know once when I forgot to hookup a vacuum hose It idled around 10 and ran rich as hell and could barely stay started.

Another thing you may have missed (just throwing it out there) is the mounting orientation of the bypass valve. It's a oneway setup - one in one out, not either way. That could effect idle and vacuum also.

We got the vac all fixed. She idles at 20 now. Reason was the IAT got blown out of the discharge tube so we had some serious vac loss. lol We have since put a custom fitting in the discharge tube from a friend at a local speedshop. It's hoooot! Thanks Jim!

Yeah, that is a pretty far fetched statement. His tunes may be "safe" 99% of the time. But even the best tuners will admit that you can't truly tune a maf without datalogging it on the car.

You shouldn't. Everything went smooth on the install aside from this. It has to be a busted MAF. If it isn't it's not going to be fun trying to figure out what it is...

You'll be fine. Such a straight forward install. Just don't drop your MAF

Everyone is having issues with their blower installs...i might just drop my car and all my parts of at Steen instead of the shortblock...i'm not very patient and will take a sledge hammer to the car if i run into issues like some of you.

I hope its just something stupid that you overlooked and not something major.

OK here are the things that could cause the problem.

1. IAT sensor malfunction
2. Tune is not setup correctly
3. MAF is not reading properly
4. Vacuume leak ANYWHERE (before blower or after...but MUST be after MAF)
5. Wrong injectors (should be green)
6. If your using a KB BAP...too much flow and causing it to be rich.

And thats about it....MAKE SURE YOU CONNECTED THE IAT CORECTLY! If you cros the wires, it can cause this problem. One guy did that and supposedly it caused his car to run SUPER rich and blowing fuel out of the pipes at idle.

Good point!

You're problem is probably going to be something very small and subtle, or really really stupid, big, and seemingly obvious...lol Go over EVERY step you've done during the install (including the ones that seem completely irrelevent to the problem) and inspect the install visually - then check it off the list. You'll get it figured out!

Here's to my first post on Stangnet. Welcome the import driver. That must be why the car isn't running

Anyway, :OT:....
No major issues here. But let me address these:
1. Tried the original IAT, and the new, and back again. Unless both somehow died simultaneously, its fine.

2. This is possible, and it was my first thought after the car ran like piss....as Ambo said, spitting a little raw fuel out of the tail pipes, and idling poorly. As of now, unless I've become incompetent overnight, I think all signs point to an error in the engine management.

3. Tried the original LMAF. Got a new LMAF, and its the same thing. Tried running the LMAF on the stock tune, it ran the same. Tried running the stock MAF on Tim's tune, and it ran worse, as expected. Yes, the MAF is facing the right direction, unless the arrow on the MAF is pointing counter-intuitively.

4. There is no vacuum leak. I have checked, rechecked, checked again, and disassembled to check everything again. There isn't really a whole lot of places for a leak to form since there is no intercooler. From MAF to Vortech is clean and tight, and from Vortech to throttle body is tight. All vacuum lines are secure, bypass valve is on correctly and tight.

5. The injectors are green, and came out of a new box labeled 42# injectors. The stock injectors were orange, and are now in the box that the 42#'ers came in. All the o-rings are intact on the new injectors, and all harnesses snugly attached.

6. I don't know what KB BAP means...so I'm going to say that its not on this car.

Cross the wires? Unless I'm mistaken, it was an unplug sensor and plug-it-back in ordeal. No rewiring for a 2000 GT was specified in the little Vortech cheat-install book that came with the kit.

Excellent...its pretty much down to the tune. Could be the wrong one...time for a dyno tune . Or option B is to send it back to Tim (or have him EMAIL it if you have a PC cable and an X cal2) . I doubt he will charge anything.

Only POSSABLE thing is that the plug and play IAT was wired incorrectly from the factory. Compare the wire colours.

KB BAP= kenne bell boost-a-pump . Basically it upps the volts to the fuel pump anywhere from 13-17Vs (little red knob that adjusts). This was just a shot in the dark because you never know.

Good luck...and very nice time for your SE-R . Pics?

Seeing that he basically just rattled off everything that could POSSIBLY be wrong, everything is done correctly.

Tomorrow Tim is going to take a look at my tune and see if he messed something up somewhere. Yes, I have the PC cable so I gotta figure out how to get the tune onto the SCT2. That outta be fun!

Here is 2 pics of the SE-R that I have:

*UPDATE*

It was a software hiccup. The tune was corrupt. I'm overnighting my X-Cal to Tim today and I SHOULD get it back Thursday or Friday. Tim has appologized for the issue and is sending me new plugs and paying for the overnighting. Very respectful business they are running over there.

I'm just glad it wasn't something we F'ed up. My only complaint is that I went out and spent $200 on a LMAF that I didn't need. Anyone looking to buy a brand new 90mm LMAF? LOL!

That totally blows!
atleast he is manning up and sending some new plugs also...good customer service goes a long way!

I would still get that thing to a good local tuner and make sure everything is perfect. It will all work out in the end.
