Thinking of getting a KB. All of us mostly know that 400RWHP+ is some what the limit for a two valve car. Would it be safer to reach 400RWHP by using a 6# kit with a set of blower cams or CNC heads. This method keeping boost out of the motor. Or is the 9# kit the way to go. Any help or opinions would be appreciated, thanks.

i think the 9# kit has a i/c....

if so the 9# is more safe with the i/c then without

but yes building the car stronger on MOTOR and MUSCLE and less on BOOST is the safer way to go

just get a worked short block and BOOST the sucker

Yeah Mustang Magic going to do the install. I want to make the number but do want to destroy the bottom end either. It would suck to pay for a car monthly when it doesn't run . So what do you think 6#s and cams or 6#s and CNC heads. If I go with the heads I'll probably have no emissions issues . I have under 12,000 miles on the car, it would be a waste to build that bottom end now.

If you go with the 6pound kit and then get cams...wouldn't you be making too little boost? From what I've been reading cams kill boost but they do make hp.

With P&P heads and blower cams, I would think a good tuner might be able to break 400RWHP even with only a 6psi pulley. I'm not sure about that figure, but even with a little boost, a P&P and cams designed almost specifically for your application should count for some pretty nice numbers.

I'd rather spend that heads and cam money towards a built bottom end. Forged engine + KB =

I would do either the 6# kit with a cam swap or the 6# kit with just a CNC head exchange keeping my PI cams. Just looking to make 400 the safe way.

eventually, something is going to break with 400rwhp. start saving for a forged shortblock. but back to the main subject, P&P heads are about $1200 and cams are about $550. that's a heafty price on top of the blower. i'd just go with the 9lb kit and start saving for the shortblock.

Ok now to stir the pot. What about the hypothetical theory that the Windsor is stronger than the Romeo? Any truth to that?
