more RPMS?

hey everyone i had a street donimator intake with a unknown cam and lifters, i upgraded to a 274 XE cam, and a eddy RPM air gap intake, with new lifter, with my old setup i ran my car at 5,800 RPMS, i was wondering how much more i can rev my car with the new setup if its possiable at all..thanks alot

its gonna depend on the heads really. what heads are you running? more than likely if they are stock heads you wont get much more rpm out of the combo but if they are decent heads than you might get a couple hundred more

Yes heads are a big factor but the valve springs are a bigger issue. If you didn't install new springs to match the cam and you were experiencing valve float then it will be the exact same no matter what cam you install.

well i installed a 274XE cam, and i have 1970 heads, off a windsor, was told they are slightly ported n polished, not sure on the valve springs tho

Like thay said above if you didnt change out the springs to match the cam then you'll get float at about the same rpm you did before.

ok thanks, maybe ill look into springs, do the heads have to come off to change them out?

No the heads do not need to come off. Your new cam should have came with a recommendation of what springs were needed.
