Mosquito Problem

Ok, so I just moved back to Texas for work. I pretty much work outside and mosquitos really love me. I'm about to freak out though. While getting dressed this morning I counted 8 mosquito bites on my left arm alone and spotted about 6-8 more on me AND I've gotten a few today on top of that. This is not going to fly. I can go outside and have a few mosquitos flying around me within a few seconds and it is really really an inconvenience and interruption when I'm trying to get something done here. I spend half my day swatting off mosquitos and trying to smash the things it seems.

Does anyone know of anything that works to repel these bastards? I've tried Off and similar stuff before with no luck. This job is going to be hell if I can't put an end to this some way or another soon. Any help is appreciated.

First off, you have to wear unscented deodorant, you can't wear cologne / aftershave, and you can't use hair products.

Then you have to use... Aveeno Skin So Soft moisturizer. Bugs hate it plus its a pretty good sunscreen.

Back home we've gotten some bad mosquitos, so bad that your leg turns black from all the mosquitos. My dad has this surplus stuff from back in the Nam that he dug out of a trash-can at Mountain Home AFB. Smear some of that crap on and the bugs don't get anywhere near you.

grease works for me.

I live right behind some woods next to a lake so when it rains it turns into a swamp, I rarely ever go into the backyard! especially with west nile virus, and others virus's those things carry around.

Oh I forgot this one.. you can mail order dragonfly eggs. Dragonflies annihilate mosquitoes, plus I personally think they are cool looking. My house is infested with dragonflies and I love it because I have virtually no other flying insect.

Holycrap that's sweet!

How do you hatch them? Put em in water?

I honestly don't know. They were here when I got here, but I got the idea to check because they all seemed to be of the same type. I live about 1/2 mile from a swamp so I thought I would be screwed when I moved in. Much to my happy surprise, I didn't get a single mosquito bite and I eat outside on the deck often in the summer.

Did a little searching and found out you can buy the eggs but thats as far as I looked into it.

I just now got back to checking on this, thanks for the replies guys. I will try some of them. The dragon fly thing is pretty cool....might have to look into that. I don't mind dragon flies. I have been wearing pants and long sleeves, and it is hot, but I catch the little bastards biting me through my clothes a lot. :notnice: I called my Mom for suggestions and she told me to get some weird oil stuff I've never heard of before, so I went and found some and it works but I don't know if I can handle the smell of the stuff.

They're long gone here in the chilly mountains of NC. But they hit hard in the summer, so I feel the pain.

Anything with DEET in it will help. I've heard people say that consuming tomatoes and bananas cause more bites. I love my maters tho. And bananas? Thats the best fruit in the world that anyone could eat! (best for you anyway)

A couple universities here in NC proved tomato based substances that can repel mosquito's though. Do a search on "IBI-246" and you will find it.
