I just got a call from my brother who I let drive my car WHILE IM OUT HERE IN CALI that my engine blew( making a turn heard some clanking then just shut off). I really didn't want anyone to drive it but ........ NOW I don't have a daily driver.

So now I can't do anything but have my other brother look at it and let me know whats up. This freaking sucks because there is nothing to do out here in cali, work has slowed to a crawl so I get off early. I can't do anything And now THIS! I Sat there and spent $800 worth of stuff and I can't do anything with it+ I still have to fix my rims and get 2 tires!!!!!!!!!

Now I probaly won't be gong to carisle.

I'm confused. If you are living in Cali and your car is in FL, why do you need to worry about it? At least for now I mean.

I wouldn't suspect the worse until you get to take a look at it, but that really sucks.. I hope you can fix it easily..

I live in Fl, But Iam working in cali due too little hours at my other job. The belt isn't old. No milkshake, no missing oil. motor spins freely, valves seem ok.

I have frozen my assets so I can fix it hopefully.

Compression test read 50-60psi in all cylinders right now I think the timing chain stretched an skipped a tooth.

i just had my rotor on my dizzy come apart. which means the bearings (bushings) inside the dizzy shaft are worn out causing the rotor to contact the dizzy cap. now the dizzy has the death squeel. you might get lucky and it's something simple like that

Yea but since his compression is down the only simple thing would be like he said... timing chain skipped on him best of luck man

Better have that brother of yours loosen the purse strings. If he can't afford to pay to repair it, he shouldn't have been driving it in the first place. And if you believe he was just "putting along" when it broke, you may as invest in some of that swamp land they've got out there in Florida as well.

We share the same coast lines you do man....and I'd say considering most of the Great Lakes belong to us, I'd venture a guess to say we've got the majority of the beach front property.

We just don't have near the silicone on our coasts that you do.....which kinda sucks if you ask me.

Well The car is back together it runs smooth other than a slight miss ( it always had) but all the cylinders are reading 125-130 psi wet. ?????

There is a swamp behind my house, I live close to a lake.

Well after replacing my radiator And charging my battery(it was at 66 amps) I was finally able to get my car up to operarting temp, And I only pulled 2 plugs and got 120psi and 145psi. It Idles rough, but the oil pressure was at 50, and the AFR was normal, but there was not alot of oil pressure when It was cranking(with coil grounded) too get the compression test.

SO AS OF RIGHT NOW: It looks like was overheated and was pinging till it shut off. Its funny how you can't really trust family or anything they say. The only people allowed to drive my car are my parents and me!

So i might just replace the timing chain and see if that does anything.

The only good thing that happened today was I finally fixed my door panel bezel and put in new top switch.

I didn't get around to checking all of them because it got late. But I drove it around the block and it ran fine. I had some over heating problem from what I believe to be the radiator cap. swapped out and ran fine but Will have to check in the morning. I didn't get to swap timing chain because I was missing a Water pump and seal.

Now after working on my car it seems that the radiator busted wide open and (due too it not being welded in all four corners so the fins were holding it together). But the driver didn't see anything because it lost so so so much coolant out the bottom so so fast, So it overheated. causing it to pin/detonate and shut off. When I went to pic it up I didn't see any steam but I was watching the temp gauge closely, it went 1/8 of a mile before I had to refill.

So it looks like Im 98% sure I'll be missing Carisle this year. But theres always next year.

When compression testing you're supposed to remove all spark plugs and have the throttle open (gas pedal to the floor) Generally you will get lower compression results if the engine is cold or you still have spark plugs in the heads when cranking the motor. 150-170 is good on an engine that has been warmed up. Make sure all the Cyl. are within 10 Psi of each other. An unusually low Psi on 1 or 2 Cyl. can make your car feel like it has a miss. I stopped getting misses on my cars when i stopped buying Autozone/ Pepboys Plug Wires. (Even the lifetime ones) Get a good set and make sure your plugs are properly gapped.
