im trying to decide what i should do next. im in the process of buying 373 gears for dirt cheap. after that im not sure either i should do more mods or suspension work. i just came back from the track and i was talking to a guy that suggested doing suspension work first then do motor. he stated that working on the suspension first ( springs, shocks, arms connecters, etc) youll be able to plant down power more efficentlyto the ground and feel a difference.

I agree with the guy brakes and suspension will allow you to push your car more and safely at the track if your going from more of a Road Course. If Drag racing is your thing then more motor is the choice

Road racing do the suspension first. Drag racing do the power mods. The Drag strip is more about traction then suspension. Suspension becomes a factor once you are running certain times or making XXX amount of power but for a fairly stock Mustang you can get away with your stock suspension at the track for awhile and just focus more on the power and the traction (yes Im aware traction is suspension related control arms/springs but Im referring more to tires)

i would like to have the best of both worlds. fun on the street and good at the track. i do autocrossing sometimes on my nissan 200sx. on the drag strip, im...well..ok running just 15s  , but on the road coarse, it runs with the big boys. what im trying to input is that with decent suspension, the car would be stable enough to put power to the ground. my uncle worked on his suspension after the gears and it felt alot better.

plus im looking for welds. they would look nicely on my car :D

both?

do springs and cc plates to get you started. then do some power mods. once you get to the point where the power is too much for the suspension invest in another round of suspension parts. rinse and repeat.

I started with suspension on my 95 and started engine mod first on my 96. suspension will cost you more in the beginning but it is well worth it. my 96 got mad power but my suspension is stock so it feels like poop. it slides everywhere and my rear end dont grab.

When first i bought the car I overhauled all the old parts to new even the bushings, trans mount engine mount(too many parts to list) it rides like new now. My 96 only got 39k but compare to my 95 it feels like poop.

Suspension first.
