Mounting Fog lights.

My car has been hit in the front and i only have one fog light braket for it, but i dont want to run them since they are heavy. I got new fog lights for christmas from my sister and i want to put them on it. I think ive heard of people runing them without the brakets, by drilling the wholes in the fiberglass bumper. Anybody have any pictures of how they mounted them or any tips to help me out? Thanks James.

I really must say that without the brackets, this probably will not be possible. If you take away the mounting brackets, you are left with holes, and nothing to mount to. You would have to drill some holes right next to the openings for the foglights, then behind the bumper, you would have to mount a u-shaped bracket. Not only would this not be a sturdy mount, but there would also be visible holes on your front clip. You might as well either keep the brackets, or remove the fogs entirely.

I got them on today, all i did was drill a hole in the fiberglass bumper and put the mount that came with the fog light on and tightend them up, works perfect, they are upsidedown but look good, got the drivers one off to one side alittle to far but its ok. Ill try to get some pics of it soon.

I used a peice of aluminum angle that I bought at Home Depot to replace the factory bracket. It was much lighter than the factory peice and strong enough to keep things straight.

I then used some flat aluminum and bent it to mount the fog lights. It worked great.

I would not run without some sort of bracket holding up the front skirt though. Even without foglights it will begin to sag and rip. I know from friends who have tried.

You can adjust them up and down the way i mounted them, and side to side if you put shims behind the mounting bracket. The Factory bracket that was still on my car when i got it (only had one) was bolted to the fiberglass bumper but the holes where riped out when it was hit.

Just out of curiosity, why are you mounting them when the lower half of your bumper is gone? im not flaming you, im just thinking that youre making more work for yourself.

and from what im gathering, you didnt get stock replacement fog lights, the ones you got are lighter aftermarket ones?

Edit: i noticed your garage had pics and see that the new bumper is on.. looks a TON better than the old bumper, regardless of it being a different color. glad to see youre making progress

Yea, i changed the front bumper on it, its all primer now instead of black and dark pimer, hopefully geting a rear bumper soon so i can paint the damn thing. For the fog lights I got the repo ones from 5.0 Resto.
