Not a tech question, but rather a statement.
This has been said before, and I'd like to reiterate the fact.
Mr. Gasket T-stats are the only way to go! Alot of you have chimed in in the past regarding my temp/ heating questions, and might remember a few occasions where my car would overheat big-time, spew coolant, then cool back down. And every morning, the temp would rise to 210* before opening. Well, after the car overheated BIG-TIME on the highway while warming up (car hadn't reached operating temps before I jumped on the highway), I decided it was time for the swap.
Installed it, let it run w/ the drivers side jacked for 15 minutes to burp it and top it off, then took off.
Let me tell you;perfect.
Stat appears to start opening @ 165-170*, and never reaches past 185* to open, (as opposed to the Stant 180* which opened @ 210* on initial warm-up of the day). Cruising it never seemed to rump 182*, and on the highway turning 3000 rpms it saw about 185*, and it used to reach in excess of 195*.
Awesome. I love it. If you don't have one, get one. If you have cooling problems, DEFINITELY get one. Great investment, very happy with it
