MSD ignition mount in fenderwell

So I've had my MSD digital 6 ignition box sitting around for a few months waiting for the install of my new 408W. Since thats not happening until this winter, and I have some time on my hands, I figure I'd throw it in this weekend.

I want to put this in the driver side fenderwell for now, I'll probably move it someplace else when I drop the new engine in.

For those of you that have put it in the fenderwell, where did you mount it? Under the washer fluid, or to the right of it? I'm thinking I might remove the washer fluid reservoir and put it there. If anyone has pics of where they mounted it I'd appreciate seeing them.

mine is in the fender but i dont exactly remember where i put it. Im pretty sure it is just forward of the cruise control circle thing (im sure it has a real name)

I just ripped out the reservoir and put the box in the best spot!

Yep, think thats probably the best idea. The box will fit good up there.

If you still have your fluid tank in there, I just mounted my box to the top of it. Drilled four pilot holes in the tank and then screwed the box down.

Put mine by the air filter this time. I have way too much stuff in the fender. The fender wells barely fit as it is. Had it on the firewall when I had the blower.

Thanks Joe, Looks like it will be a tight fit for me to put the box there since I have a 10" air filter and a 4" intake pipe.

I'm also in the process of welding up a custom intake tube that will put the air filter/meter in the fenderwell, so I'll probably need to cut that area out in the future.

Did the box get hot at all being on firewall?

Yes, much hotter on the firewall compared to where it is now. Couldn't even touch it when it was back there. I've seen the boxes bolted under the air filter before. I wouldn't do under the seat either. It doesn't vent very well under there, I tried it.

Just finished this last weekend. It worked out really well and was very easy. I removed the washer fluid reservoir since I rarely use it. I can access the rpm dials through the hole in the fenderwell so I don't have to remove the wheel to get at it.

I mounted it directly on the other side of the battery. The fenderwell had lots of areas to tie up extra wire.

He told me they've seen more boxes damaged by heat from the glove compartment then from weathering in the engine bay. He said if you leave it in the glove box, leave the door open.
