MSD superconductor wire's, too small?

I bought the MSD 8.5mm Super conductor wires for our cars. These things are really short! Each one barely reaches the plug, had to run some under the intake and now they're lying on the valve cover. Not sure if thats a bad thing or not.

I triple checked the packaging and it says these are for 94-95 Mustang GT's. Anyone else have this problem?

That's how mine are. I had to run a sheath on the wires in spots (like the one that sits on the valve cover) to try and keep them healthy. If you're into aesthetics (I'm function over looks), it's gotta suck for you.

they are a close fit, but once you get them on theyre great. mine have been fine laying across the valve cover. great quality wires and the close fit keeps them from getting places they dont need to be (ie, on the headers)

I'm all about function too, I was just worried about them laying over the valve cover and being twisted to fit on the plug. I suppose a shorter wire has less resistance as well. Just wanted to make sure someone didn't switch the wires on me in the box.

I looked at your pic this time (I forgot to last time) and I see what you mean - it looks like your intake encroaches a little more than a stocker.

I did have my wires sitting on the VC's and touching whatever they were touching for some time and I never even saw hardly a burn or score on the wires' insulation. I just got anal one night and played around with sheathing a couple of them for a few inches. You might not even need it - as per Fiveohh94GT.

They should fit just fine I had them on my old 92 GT with
no fitment issues.

I found that I had change the wire routing a bit from MSD's instructions to make the wires fit better. They don't leave much extra room, but at least they won't get much in the way.

I also added the MSD wire separators and that helped clean things up a good bit.

There is no possible way I could route my wires like that. Each of them are turning tight just to get on the plug. You can see how they had to be stretched under the intake just to fit on the plug wire.

Illwood, those are the 94-95 specific wires?

Mine won't fit. There just tooo damn short Putting the stock ones back on till I can come up with a solution. My valve covers may be a little taller but damn these things are short

Yep, think thats my issue too. When I drop the 408W in, I'm going to have to buy new plug wires...again.

I've got a set, and yeah, they are a tight fit. Mine just lay over the valve covers, haven't had any problems yet.

they worked for me just fine. if i remember i had to switch some from the recommended cylinders but they worked fine. i like the tight fit.

When you get new one's, I wouldn't recommend the FMS 9mm one's. I have them. They are WAY too long.


Next round, I will be cutting my own lengths.

I think Tim used to post that one of the Performance oriented dealers (Anderson perhaps) offered 94-95 FRPP wires. Ring any bells (again Justin. )?
Now how those would work on a ride with modified dimensions (plenum, VC's, etc), I dont know.

Yes, those wires are horrible, way too long. Plus have you ever taken a squirt bottle and watched the arcing light show?

I'll probably go with the Taylor wires with the next engine.

I had the msd's I hated them, there locking design to hold on the S plugs are too strong. I ended up ripping the "flexible" metal peice that allows you to bend them in anyway. Switched to Taylors and love them...

Yeah, those are the MSD 94-95 specific wires. Like I said, figure out the lengths to which plug yourself, not by that install sheet and you'll be much better off.
