I have a 98 GT and stock rear-end, 4.10's, 5 spd, stock engine not much power!
will i have to worry about breaking something(like rear-end) at the track w/ these tires?
somebody told me they have a stiffer sidewall rather than the ET streets?????? and wont give in as easily? they will be mounted on 15x8 weld prostars!thanx in advance
I have the 275/50/15 MT ET Street radials and I exploded my stock t-lock with them. Launch at 3500 spraying off the line on a cool night. I don't even put much power down. They sure make a hell of a noise when they go. That was in october still sittin in the garage waiting for the detroit locker and 31 splines to go in. BTW I would put the 275 on a 15x10 in rim. They pit 100% perfect. These tires run WIDE.

i just bought 15x8's tho...gotta good deal!!!!!! so will those be too wide??? the 275/50/15's

ok i think itll be to much tire for you. your not making alot of power and with those its gonna be hard to launch. with mine on all motor i have to dump it at like 4600rpms or else itll bogg down. there is seriously such a thing as too much traction. i also left mine at like 30psi's. to try and off set it dont do a long burn out cause thats when they get super sticky. just play with them and youll figure it out.

15x8 rims will be fine. i woudl rather have them on a skinnier rim running low pressure. it keeps more tension on the beads. they do run REALLY wide. my 275/50/15's on 8" rims are just as wide as my 295/35/18's on 10.5" rims

you prob wont break anything unless you launch off the limiter and it actually hooks up. then you will either have to replace a carrier or and axle. but just think of it like this, if it breaks it needed to be replaced anyways

I've done quite a few 5k launches on my MT ET Street Radials with 4.10's, stock axles, and stock diff. After a while I too had to rebuild the traction lock, but it was worn out before I even put the tires on. It certainly wont hurt to upgrade, but you should be fine. I cut my 60' times from 2.1 to 1.7 and my ET's from 8.9 to 8.4 (in the 1/8th).
