dont go with flowmaster, dynomaxx, warlocks or hooker mufflers, unless youre looking for a deep but quiet sound. they sound throaty but when you smash on the gas it sounds nothing like the loud crack that glasspacks throw out. not only that but they are best for performance, they shoot the exhaust straight through almost like straight pipes, instead of that chamber **** that flowmasters have. i have thrush cherry bombs and they crack realllllllll loud. but if ur not into hearing u r exhaust from inside the car ( i love listening to my car, i often turn the radio off and just listen to the RPM's flow) then dont get the glasspacks because you can DEFINETLY hear it from inside. especially after they blow out.

I was going to get new exhaust on my old 89GT and Was short on cash b/c all the other stuff I had to do so I threw some thrush bombs on it to get me by and it sounded awesome. I had shortie headers, offroad h=pipe and bombs with turndowns. I was actually surprised by the good sound! The car got totaled shortly after!

I'm only going for glasspacks because of the sound. As for functionality, stick with the flowmasters, mainly because they have a real good flow, and you need the the chambers to make more backpressure, so it scavenges real well, whereas glasspacks don't at all lol. But mainly i just want the sound of the glasspack, without a doubt, flowmaster is the best way to go...there's a reason so many 5.0's have'm

On my 88 LX I have full length bbk headers, no cats and warlocks with 2.5" pipe.

The warlocks are put togther pretty shody. The seams are not fully welded and so you can see little exasut leaks, the fitup was terible, I had to make the cut outs fit buy grinding and reaming. They sound pretty bad at first, really quiet. I have had them on almost 2 years and they are getting louder adn better sounding. They don't have the annioying resonance that the flowmasters do on my 94 cobra

would I buy them again? Probibly becasue I like their cut out design, most cut outs are not designed for performance. I just wished they sounded better (mabe in 2 more years they will sound sweet) and wernt put together so badly.

I would hate to hear how quiet they are with cats

as a side note to my last post, you need it to scavenge (pull exhaust from the engine) so it makes more torque, ya'll prolly knew that

I hate to say it but Flowmasters suck ass. They've been my muffler of choice since before I had a licence but the quality is so poor these days that I won't buy em. Most of you probably don't remember the good old "black box" steel Flowmasters that they made in the old days. I have magnaflows, which are ok, on my Mustang and I Bassani's on my Lightning. However, the Lightning had Flowmasters and they rusted to pieces....they are total crap. I live in California, it's not like I'm driving in the snow on salted roads. The Mac's are pretty good with a fair sound- I like those in particular because they have a model that's really small and fits well. Bassani makes the best stuff but you have to pay for it.

i tell you what...you want it to be loud and sound powerfull as hell? I mean POWERFULL! Cut the mufflers off and just weld turn downs on the end of the H-pipe...now thats a real mans car My friend Kyle did this to his 95 GT and you would swear he had a damn 500hp dragster when he just nails it. Sounds nice and throaty and when its sitting still (Stock cam) its not loud at all....I'd do it...cheaper to

I've never heard answers like this... glasspacks? who would think that they are any good or useable... flowmasters are ok, not the best, and they are the ricer fart can equivalent for mustangs, everyone has them. The warlocks will not give you enough backpressure open, unless your car is heavily modded, 400hp+. I have a gt-40x crate motor, and the flowtech terminators without tailpipes did not give enough backpressure, with tailpipes, they sound great and I don't bog down as easily(unless i screw up). They work great in the upper rpm also, with the tailpipes on, i didn't lose any hp, so tailpipes=good, open warlock+ stock or lightly modded car=bad

Not a 5.0, but my buddy has an 04 Mach1 with glasspacks and it sounds WICKED. Nothing like the annoying cherry bombs I used to have on my stang.

Another vote fo the FLOWMASTERS here.

Try some Flowmaster 1 chambers, that'll wake ya up in the morning

We got Flowmaster 1 chambers "Top Ten Race Mufflers" (large case) with Kook's 2" headers and 3.5" exhaust and Flowmaster 3.5" turn downs.

I helped the exhaust shop put then on and when we started the car,I was like "Ugh,we did put the exhaust on,right?".There loud, lol.

Edit:There loud compared to open pipes,i.e no collectors, under car zoomies!

flows get my vote. the patented 5.0 sound. they resonate badly at about 2k rpm but that is the sound of a mustang

Most 5.0's have flowmasters (I do) I like them....but I get sick of sounding like every other mustang out there. If I were you go with magnaflow,if you go to their website they have sound clips. I Think they sound pretty nice wish I would have heard them before I got my flowmasters.

Flowmaster......

They do sound very good on a five-oh. Probobly better than any other muffler. I have had 2 chambers on my LX for about 10 years now. I have grown sick of the of the drone at 2000rpm.

Flowmasters are a great choice on a five-oh if the person can tolerate the drone. They arent the best flowing muffler, but they do sound awesome.

Myself, i am gonna ditch the flows this year and more than likely go with Borla Pro XS mufflers. From the samples that i have heard on the web, they sound pretty good. And from what i have heard, their drone at 2000rpm is little to none. Oh, and by the way i THINK they were in the top 2 or 3 best flowing mufflers a while back. AND they were the quietest.

Cmon peoples..... Borlas they are the best . Quality is what you want, not quantity, plus they sound just as loud at WOT.

for all you that want glasspacks, they suck. I bought my 89 and it had dynomax glasspacks. It sounded wicked up top, everyone thought i had a supercharger with that and my flex fan. I am far happier with my flows with the offroad H. much better sound. BUT if you want them, go with flowmasters race outlaw's. they are ridiculous.

Who says sounding like everyone else is a bad thing??? Mustangs are really known for their sound, and I know when ones coming down the street just by listening to it, so I say throw some Flows on there like everyone else...Its the best way to go

PS...Stay away from the delta flow 40's, IMO they're to quiet and dont really sound all that good
