I just wanna slam the gas pedal to the floor and let her rip!!!
Had 3.73's installed this afternoon and i'm gonna take it easy for a few hundred miles and do the proper heat cycles. But its so damn hard to resist :(
Even under normal driving, i could feel the difference and the best way to describe it is that it feels as if the car just went on a 500lb diet or something. It just feels light as a feather and doesn't struggle to get going. It actually makes city driving easier i think. Also, i can actually use 5th gear now on the freeway to accelerate :D
Will i be in for a hell of a surprise the first time i go WOT? Also, the car was running [email protected] before the gears with just the x-pipe and catback and a poor 2.1 60'. How much of a difference should i see at the track with the 3.73's and my new BFG KDW2's?
All opinions welcome except for Killy telling me i'm dumb for touching the stock rear-end :nice:

I know how you feel with the "light" feeling on the 3.73s :hail2: . I can save you alot of pain man as ill tell you what I did.

I ran mine for about 10 miles and then let it set overnight. Drove it to work that morning and hammered it a few times....then when I got off work I went WOT I dont know HOW MANY TIMES! Man it felt GREAT....just couldnt get enough. :D

That was what 35,000-40,000 miles ago? No whine and no problems...all I did was let it wear the paint off the gears on the 10 mile run and let it cool. After that your ready to go.

Everyone tells you not to go WOT...V6 guys do the same thing but WOT is like our 1/2 throttle. Then imagine a 600RWHP GT...their getting to traffic speed is more strain on the gears than us doing WOT blasts.

So GET OUT THERE AND HAMMER IT! :D Just be prepared...1st gear winds out FAST!

Damn it Cody. Why must you do these things? I need people saying "Break them in for 400 miles Mike or they'll EXPLODE". Not people telling me to go WOT tomorrow on the way to school since i already drove 25 miles on them :rlaugh:

Thats what im here for :D ...eh I have to mix it up a bit right?

(Just so if you cant control yourself, you wont be worrying about your rearend......wait that didnt sound right :barf: :rlaugh: )

I've heard people getting different results after the gear install as far as noise, no noise, whining and what not. I guess it really does depend on the install.

I ripped through my gears as soon as I backed it out of the shop. Then I let my friend have at it. This was over 6 months ago and I beat on them everday at least once. I have yet to have any issues.

Everyone's car is different though, I guess.

What kind of gains do ya'll think i should expect in the 1/4 mile? I know it'll take a bit more work off the line to not spin and get a decent 60', but how should 3.73's affect my trap speed and ET's given similar 60' times?

breaking in motors.........yes. breaking in drivetrain parts?

drive it like you would drive it before. let it get broken in to your driving habits, or else you baby it, then 500 miles later when its broken in being babied and you rip on it, its gonna be like "WTF **** this, I dont have to take this ****, I Quit!"

Who installed them for you and what was the price?

I'll be getting some work done at MPH in December, I assume you live in that area? You can come pick me up and i'll buy you lunch ;) (somewhat kidding--the car is a daily driver and im not sure I want to sit at the shop for a few hours without a ride)
