Is today July 11 the birthday of the Mustang II?
Arguably yes, approved for production on July 11 1971.
Released to the press in August of ‘73
Car of the Year ‘74
The ' right car at the right time'
Sold really well.

Pretty close with this mock up.

Thanks for your research!
Happy Birthday best Mustang of all times!
I will celebrate that today with a longer drive to a ex colleague, where I will pic up my new 450 lbs front springs. They are there for over a year...
Will be a longer drive on back roads and a small part on Autobahn. Lets see if I will set a new personal Mustang II speed record (until now I didn't have the guts to drive it faster than 110 mph).

Was a nice trip. Had also a look at another friends 72 Torino with a 400M 2V. Has new paint in bright green with black hood scoop and black painted roof where a vinyl roof was when the car was new. Also the chrome parts (bumper, headlight doors) where painted black. I like it a lot. Also cool: front bench seat.
Power train is very stock. So perhaps I will revisit this car again: recurve the distributor and check carb settings because its slow.
Because another friend is responsible for a brand new roller dyno at the university, it could be possible to measure what the gains of the 400M are before and after ignition tuning...
But I didn't set a new record with my II. Still want to replace the u-joints on the drive shat, before I drive faster...
