OCD. I would have truck bedliner sprayed the originals.

One was ripped and tattered. I really only had one to put back in. I could have just bought some rubber and cut the pattern out using the one I had as a template. If I had the luxury of time, I would have. But right now time is something i don't have a lot of. It's house project season.

Ok. Probably the only person to ever detail this, but why not.

so I hop on eBay to find a nicer looking purge solenoid. I find an ‘84 truck solenoid that’s NOS and dirt cheap (gee I wonder why) it’s the same other than being a pigtail and smaller.

So I mounted it up the traditional way. I physically mounted the solenoid to the frame rail and ran the line from the tank around the outside of the rail

BUT as I was cleaning up, I had an idea to take advantage of the smaller size. I’m going to mount it behind the airbox and out of sight. I think it will be much cleaner. Unfortunately I didn’t feel like picking up a tool again tonight, so maybe I’ll try it tomorrow.

But, this completes all of the vac lines. I’m happy at how that came together. Now to focus on the wiring. Then I can at least put a battery in and power up the car. I need to clean up my fan wiring as well

I’ve also been making YouTube vids. I’m no Brew2L though

The seller probably wondered if they'd ever unload that solenoid.

Some more odds and ends. New firewall seal. My original was FUBAR.

I’ll install and give my impressions later. Still trying to find some time to finish the wiring in this car. I need a solid day left alone to plan it through and make it happen. That never happens.

You are married with young children. I’m amazed you have been able to dedicate as much time to the car as you have.

I guess it’s acceptable.

Material is more felt-like. During the install, one clip fell off, so I had to reinstall it back on. Other than that, straightforward.

I hear those seals were bad with clips coming off. Makes me not want to buy it and I need one.

Yeah. Wasn’t thrilled with that. Felt like they should be more secure.

before tossing my original, I cut off the clips and saved them. Hopefully I won’t need them

Decided to tackle the hinge roller and the tension spring. The one on my drivers door broke off years ago. Wanted to paint up the jambs since nice weather has returned as well.

getting the tension springs out with no fenders is easy. With a fender in place, no way I’d get it out with my grinder. Maybe a dremel?

the rollers are a different story. I can’t see how to get them in without removing the hinge pin and disassembling the hinge. The bottom hinges are in pristine shape, so I don’t want to cut out a good hinge. Need to stop and think about this for a minute

Omg man those look great!! Between these and @2000xp8 im already super pumped about restoring mine. I’ll probably send mine off to where 2000xp8 sent his. I have one latch that is being a little lazy and those pieces you fab’d where they latch look great. The only thing I’m bummed about is he said they no longer emboss, or embroider the recaro, and instead use the button plates which I’ve seen on eBay. So you used the planted and 2000 went with wedge. Is there a difference between the two? I like those base or slider plastic coverings. The base I took off the LS-B seat had those.

I dont know what the differences are between planted and wedge bases. I know you can get wedge bases with sliders, but was always curious about how the height difference were. Only way to really know is to do a side-by-side. Mine use the Recaro sliders

The headrests will get recovered at some point. I had a guy lined up but never pulled the trigger. I was too busy with the car so it’s on my agenda to do. Btw, here’s how they break down and why those smaller Recaro headrests couldn’t be modified to work. You can see the frame is u-shaped with a plastic “net holder”

Ok now it makes sense why it wouldn’t work as I had planned in my head. dang these really harder to find than I thought. I even found a pair on eBay but the width of the bars is still to short. You have 3!! That’s a lucky strike you had on those.
