They aren't bad unless you get up close.

I guess they could be worse. I agree the are unique, and the black inserts go with the black exterior paint. They also look "big" for 17" wheels I guess due to the large area of spoke

Spent some time on the interior tonight. Ordered a few parts from LRS to upgrade some of my interior parts. Mainly console lid and new latch plate, as well as some odds and ends like armrest plugs, and a hood latch. Not a whole lot left to do to the interior really. Got an LED bulb setup coming for the dash. Bye bye dirty yellow light.

Should have my painted LX wing on Sunday, and awaiting the brake light harness in the mail. Just need nuts to mount the damn thing.

Made arrangement to buy a clean set of 98 cobra wheels with new tires. Literally an hour or so away from hopping in the car to go get them, and the guy texts me to tell me he sold them to someone local last minute. Guess the '97 Cobras live another day....for now.

I'm really thinking I need a steering wheel. These non-cruise wheels seem so blah

I snagged the spare on eBay a month or so ago. I found there were quite a few for sale so I picked one that had a "make offer" option and threw a lower number out and got it.

I've yet to see another non cruise wheel. Amazingly, cruise is the only option my car didn't come with. Had the sunroof, AOD, a/c but no cruise. Might be why I never use cruise to this day. Never had it on my first car.

Ok. How the hell does the 3rd brake light harness run?

This doesn't look right. I've bought three harnesses off eBay. A coupe, convertible and supposedly LX hatch harness. The LX hatch harness looks short, plus doesn't fit where I assume the brake light wiring runs?

I had most of the LX holes filled. Apparently the 3rd brake light hole was filled too.

Does it go another way? Anyone got pics with LX spoiler off??

I have these harnesses

Coupe on right. LX hatch on bottom left, convertible on top left. What's a GT harness look like?

Ok after searching a bit, seems I was off as to where the LX brake light wiring comes through.

Looks like I got another hole to drill

Also, regarding your sunroof bag in the hatch, when you want your sunroof open are we supposed to just remove the whole dang thing or pop it up? Mine doesn't even open much, maybe 1.5" if that and doesn't stay up, it always falls down. Does this mean I need to just remove it like a t-top glass? I know they're really easy to remove.

Either.

Back when I DDed the car, I'd just pop it up. It only fell down over big bumps, but for the most part stayed up. Just too much of a pita to take it out every single time I drove it. If you look through all my pics, it's usually popped up. Any car I own with a sunroof always got it popped up as soon as I was in the car.

When the car became a weekend (or in my case once a year) driver, I started always taking it out. If just cruising around the neighborhood, I'd leave it in the garage.

I'm up 302 near Casco/Naples. We're on one of the satellite lakes around Sabago.

We might stop for lunch in Portland on way back to MA but that all depends on the kiddos. If they pass out on the ride I'm driving straight through. Two hours of silence is rare!

Nice weather this week

Ok. LX wing installed. Not hard as I could still see where the old holes were from the underside. Took my time redrilling and bolting it on.

Officially no more Saleen Spoiler

Wired up the brake light. Was gonna slap some LEDs in it, but the oem bulb was actually brighter. Needless to say, I'll just stick with the standard bulbs. It's a brake light and I want people to see it

Which side of the 3rd brake light is LED

Temp wired with electrical wire nuts. Can't seem to find my soldering stuff since I moved. Will need to borrow from work.

eBay impulse buy. Was sitting in bed this AM and came across a pair of OEM LX tail lights cheap.

So, the deed is done, but do I swap them on and go back to 100% stock exterior, or package and box them up and just save them.

I have been eyeing my smoked headlights and wondering if I should go back to stock style headlights.

I've also been wondering if I should remove this and put the LX back on

I'm pretty sure there were holes on the hatch. I'm not sure if I want to go the 100% resto route. That was part of the motivation on getting the LX wing back on vs throwing on a ;93 cobra wing or even a Steeda LX wing (do they even still make those?) , but not quite sure I want to go back to 100% stock. I have a painted 1993 Cobra grill insert I'd love to install, but at the same time I don't want to hack up an OEM ford LX bumper with a VIN sticker on it to do an irreversible modification.

I'm kinda going for the clean, stockish sort of mods using mostly Ford parts (Cobra brake swap, mach 1 springs, GT40p heads, etc) so I don't want to get too far away from that. Basically I say to myself, if Ford were to make an 5.0 (windsor based) LX hatch today, what sort of parts would they have put on it?

Ok. I gotta make a decision here on if I will run these wheels or not.

My plan was to widen the rear two to 10" wide and run 295s. I like these wheels because they are practically new and clean

After searching the net, I found a car just like mine with these wheels. Same head and taillights. Only difference is hood.

So. Yea or nay

Need to decide so I can send two out to get widened and start getting tires. I'm also contemplating 1998 cobra wheels

I have always liked the 10th anniversary cobra wheels on a fox, personally. The anthracite on black looks really good, and you may be able to find some stock take offs that are still in good shape. Also, I think you should install the new LX lenses. They seem cleaner to me, but probably because I have never really cared for the black lines on the cobra lenses. Just too busy for my taste. Theses are all just the things I was mulling over when I had a black '86!

I agree about the anthracite, which is why I hesitate to just go ahead and put these polished wheels on. They just don't look "tough" enough IMHO. I need to sleep on it a bit.

I purchased some LX taillights. I kick myself for selling my OEM mint set years ago, but they were a dime a dozen back then. Need to spend some time refurbing them up by painting the reflectors, and polishing the exterior of the lenses, they I may toss them back on. I do like the Cobra lights, so i'll keep them. This is more or less me just trying a different look.

I did pick up an LX emblem for the hatch. Gonna remove the 302 emblem and go back to OEM style badging.

Pats91, After dwelling on it, your pics convinced me to go ahead and run them. So thanks for that.

So...shopping for front tires as we speak, and gonna bolt one on the rear and see just how much I can widen the 8" rim to. I'm running sn95 axles out back and have some room to widen them inwards. Question is, how much? I'm hoping I can add 2" and make the rears 10" wide and run something like a 295-305 back there. Need to scope it out first.

But in the meantime, gonna get some front tires so I can actually commit to these wheels and stop messing around.

Don't worry...I'm going to keep the 97 cobra wheels.

I am more and more into seeing stock wheels widened. I think it will look B/A.

There is literally a custom wheel shop 1/2 mile from me that does these sorts of things. I gotta take a ride by and see what they want to widen two. First I need to mount a rim and see just how wide I can go. Hoping for 2 full inches wider. With the sn95 axles I know I can go at least 1" inward. If I can get 2" that would be awesome

Got a couple house projects to wrap up, hopefully I can widen the rims this fall

Not much to report. Just gathering parts for my MA conversion, and head/cam swap. May send out my gt40 lower for porting, but don't think it's needed with stock gt40ps. Picking up gaskets and fluid as well as cleaning materials and paint.

Decided to go back to stock appearance headlights. Will order in next few weeks. Going with amber corners and all.

Trying to chase down an engine shake. Engine feels like a slight miss at idle, and backfires in intake if I rev the engine up. I have no codes (checked multiple times) and the cylinder balance test comes back fine. Need to figure this out cuz it annoys me.

And because everyone likes pics...
