My car ran a 1/4 mile time of 14.2 @100.7 what im wondering is how come i ran it at 100 mph when i see people running 13's at 97 mph? MY car can do alot better but i think i need to work on my driving and need new tires. I have HCI and all pretty mutch all the bolt ons' dyno at 289 rwh. It's a stock weight 94 gt convert.

You must not be hooking at all. What is your 60'? With 289hp you should be trapping alot higher than 100mph.... Either you are really spinning with no traction at all or are not in the powerband. Do you have gears?
I ran a 14.0 @ 99mph when my car had h/c/i. I added shorty headers, prochambers and gears and gained 8 mph in my trap speed.

You can definately get those times down with that trap speed. The whole key is your 60 foot. What did you run that in? That will dictate to a large extent your final times.

damnit you beat me by 2 minutes

Like they said, we need to know you 60' time. Your 1/4 mile ET is more dependent on the 1st 60' than anything else. I went 13.8 at 98mph with the stock heads and cam at nearly 3800lbs, but my 60' was a 1.91 on 245-50-16 nitto DR's. Tell us more about your combo too...

I have my time slips in my car at work ill get them tommorow for the 60 ft. But i have a e cam twisted wedge heads 3.73 gears spec 1 clutch i spin alot with my coopers on cobra r rims. 225 lph fule pump stock 24 injectors and masss air bbk cai. bbk shorty headers o/r h pipe u/d. msd ignition. Stock weight if anything i have added about 50 pounds with my fire gear and subframe connectors. car is also lowerd with c/c plates and kyb shocks. o and a think it's 65 mm tb

Keep in mind that when you drop your 60' time your mph is gunna drop to. You are gunna lose some trap speed but you time is gunna be faster proven fact. Practice your launching and you should be well in to the upper 13's

You know I have heard that for YEARS, and in my car it couldn't be further from the truth. The better the 60' I have, the more MPH I get out of it... I don't know why but it has proven to be so time and time again in my car.

Yeah every car is different though. Your atmosphere has alot to do with that to. Air density and temp. etc.... I know that usually when you improve your sixty foot times go down your mph go down to. As long as your are not dead hooked(no tire spin), if you are dead hooked your mph will go up but not the case if you are on a radial tire. And i could be wrong to nobody can explain everything.

IDK but for an hci stang even a heavy vert 14.0 at 100 is WAYYYY slow...let someone else drive your car man and see how they do cuz I can't believe it...I could smoke you and I have stock heads and cam and 60 less rwhp??? something is wrong man...you should be low 13s at least..

Its not all that far out there. I don't think a lot of the new guys don't realize that 12 second NA cars were NOT the norm just 3 or so years ago, neither were 13 second stock headed cars. When I did my combo the FASTEST H-C-I car I could find was Don95vert and he was running like 13.5 at 104 back then. Hell my combo on my FIRST trip to the track resulted in a 13.6 at 103mph, and I think I drive fairly well. After some time re-learning to laucnh the car, adjusting the timing and fuel, finding the right shift points, etc all worked to get me where I am now. MOST 94-95 HCI cars on the various websites were mid 13 second cars running 101-103mph, the 108+mph cars you see on here today just were not around back then. I know it seems odd but I assure you its true, I just think people forget the "old" days. Cams, intake, and head improvements as well as trial and error by the numerous people on the boards over the years have helped EVERYONE get faster and faster. The original posted didn't say if this was his first trip ever to the track or not. Maybe he is off on his shift points, maybe the tune it off, etc... I do agree that there is more in the car but it might not be THAT far off from where he is, but then again he may be. Today if a vert owner runs 12's with HCI or 13's with the stock stuff no one even questions it... but back when I did it I got flamed and the BS flag pulled on me just about everywhere I posted... its amazing what can happen in a few short years isn't it? I think a little over a year and a half to 2yrs ago there were only a handful (like 6-8) of HCI cars in the 12's on the corral and stangnet where there are a number of 94-95 guys... now look at the 1/4 mile list.
