when i bought the car (95 v6 auto) i left it idle outside a friends house. when i came back out apprx 15 mins later, my car was full of smoke, water spraying everywhere, and car extremely hot. i have since replaced the thermostat, and the water pump. it still likes to run warm/hot, and HOT when i leave it idle for periods of time (going through taco bell drive thru). what can i do to help fix this, because i dont think its normal??!!??!?!

Have you checked for any other leaks? Hoses, radiator, wetness on passenger floor as possible heater core leak. Does the exhaust smoke or the engine run rough ever? There's a slight chance that the cylinder head gaskets could be leaking internally. Check your oil for milky color and check your coolant for oil floating at the top.
I know this may seem dumb but did you make sure you installed the t-stat facing in the correct direction?
Another possibility is that air could be trapped in the cooling system. When air is trapped, it can move around and create hot spots on the cylinder heads which can easily create an overheating problem. Air could have been trapped in the system from a leak before you replaced the pump and T-stat. If you havn't done so yet, this could easily be the cause. Right above the temperature sender unit , there's a bolt with a large white cap circling around it. That is the cooling system bleeder tube. When your engine has cooled off, remove the radiator cap and then remove the bleeder bolt completely. Slowly pour premixed coolant into the bleeder tube, stopping every few seconds to let trapped air come up (bubbles). Keep an eye on the level in your radiator as it's liable to overflow while your pouring into the bleeder tube. After it tops off, insert and tighten the bolt back up. Cap off your radiator and start engine. Turn on defrost and set to full hot. Let run for 2 minutes then shut off engine. Wait about 5 minutes then carefully remove both the cap and bolt again. Top off bleeder tube and check for air bubbles. Now replace again and let engine run as normal. Let it run for 15 minutes and keep checking the temp. If temp stays in normal range, continue to let it to run for another 10 minutes and keep checking temp. Also make sure your cooling fan is turning on when it should. When temp gauge gets near about halfway, the fan should kick on for 30 - 45 seconds then shut off.
And yeah, I know it's quite obvious but check your oil. Make sure you got enough in there.
