My car wont heat up on highway

I really never thought of that, it does seem to be a restrictive setup. Since Its installed I don't think I can return it, I guess worse case is I have to custom make a shroud, I do totally see where it could be restrictive at high speeds. Well I now have a new project

I don't think the shroud is an issue. Although I do have a kickass Ron Davis radiator, I basically have the same setup on my car without any cooling issues. That's including the intercooler and A/C condenser that are in front of the radiator. Hey! that's another thing to take a look at. Do you have any obstructions in front of the radiator? Are leaves or anything else clogging the air path to or through the radiator?

well i took 2000xp8 advice and changed back to the stock fan and shroud. the car never got over 190* even with me beating it pretty bad. Apparently the mishimoto fans/shroud is a huge obstruction. Now i don't know what to do, im stuck with a $250 dollar electric fan setup that sucks, Anyone think 50 resto will let me return them because the fans suck?

Good deal, bro. I'll keep this one in mind for the future in case I see it again. It's still pretty surprising to me since I don't have any problems, and can't believe that your fans wouldn't kick on and bring the temps down just like they do at idle.

Well, you know i have to say it right?
Told you so. In your original post, suggested you put the rad in and run the stock fan to make sure all was good, then switch to the electric so you wouldn't chase your tail finding the problem.

I just don't like electric fans on a fox, the newer cars are designed with them so it really can't be compared.

Glad you found the problem, you know i have to bust your balls.

I would try and return it as a defective product.
Maybe you can get a lincoln fan if you really want to do this again and use whatever electronics came with the mish setup so it's not a total loss. You just can't beat factory fans.

Fast, those fans he has are pretty weak, couple that with how flat that shroud is, i can only see it slowing down air at 60mph. Helps at idle hurts at speed.

i know it does suck, but i can see at highway speeds that shroud has a lot of dead space, and the air just stays in the radiator, oh well lesson learned.

I just dont understand why my fan setup wouldnt work, oh well i will stick back to stock stuff, well i called LRS today and told them about the problem. They said they would give me store credit for the shroud/fans/and relay no questions asked. Thats why i will never shop anywhere else but LRS but anyways i will just get a stock fan/shroud package from LRS and just leave well enough alone

What are your fans rated at?

Not sure it matters anyway, your radiator looks like it's 4 inches thick, that thing probably would cool better than most radiators even if you didn't take it out of the cardboard box, lol.

As far as LRS, haven't purchased from them in a while, but sounds like great customer service.
I'm going to order new floor mats from them soon.

I know the problem has been solved...but I thought it might be proper to add my $.02.

Fought similar issues on my '93 LX with 2.3 engine (yeah...LOL). Overheated on the highway but in town, perfect. Changed the stat, changed the fan, cleaned radiator, at that time removed the condensor thinking that might help but no. Replaced the stat again thought maybe I got a bad one. Put it all back to stock and was ready to sell it and a guy I worked with at the time turned me to a different stat. Robertshaw. The only stat I'll ever buy again. Not any more $$$ than the parts store garbage, made in USA, works like it's supposed to. Guess what else? MPG increased with the proper stat in it.

Just thought I'd throw that out there....I thought I heard once that Mr Gasket was a repackaged Robertshaw but I did not look at mine when I bought it (the Mr Gasket T-stat) so I can't confirm.
