On saturday i decided to finally install my Heads/Cam/intake. i've been sitting on this stuff for some time now and finally decided now is the best time.

heres what i'm installing:

Fully ported e7 heads (1.85 in. 155 ex)
port mached Typhoon intake
Crane 2031 Cam kit
Crane cobra 1.7 roller rockers
70mm throttle body
Kirban regulator
Ford Racing billet steel timing set
ARP Head Studs
Ford Racing Full gasket set (1250 intake, 9333pt1's)
polished bolts

i think thats it LOL

all i did on saturday was strip most of the motor down. everything when good. no broken bolts or anything. couldnt get the powersteering puller to work that i rented. so i returned it and got the right one.

today i got the headers, heads, timing cover, cam and lifter, out. i also installed the new cam, put back the lifters, put in the timing set, and cleaned all the gasket surfaces. i had problems getting the timing set in. i had zero cam end play. i found out first that the dowl pin i used was a tad bit long and was up against the washer of the cam gear. after grinding down some of the dowl pin and washer i still had zero end play. i tried the old thrust plate and i had some end play but not with the new one. i sanded down the surface of the new thrust plate and got back my end play.

here are some pics. didnt take any with the cam and timing set installed yet. i'll get more as i go along.

Im doing a similar setup

home ported E7s, Steeda 19 cam, 75mm MAF, 24#inj, BBK underdrives, Kirban AFPR, Ford Racing lifters, and all the gaskets, bolts and ****, along with the other stuff in my sig. I think I will have everything done on Friday. Im getting it dyno'd a week after that and Ill post results, I would be interested to see what your power levels after the swap with all your mods versus mine with all my mods after swap would be.

Wow man, I have the EXACT same combo as you except I'm using FelPro Gaskets and also a 10psi Supercharger to help it all flow a little better.

Let me know what kind of power you make so I can get an idea of mine N/A.

lookin pretty good! but about your vacation, don't take too much time thinking you have time. in the end it will better to keep working through and finish early so you have time to tune and diagnos problems should they arise. trust me, something WILL happen that sets you back at least a couple hours.

Update:

i relocated all my wiring. kept the fuse box in the bay. i still wanted to have access to it. only had to extend the passenger headlight and corner light which is common. everything else fit like a glove. cant figure out what to do with my alt wires tho. wont know till i get the motor back together.

also painted the engine bay. came out good. i was happy with it. still have to unmask everything tho.

having some serious problems with the stupid cam kit. my guy started putting the heads together and ran into a problem with the exhaust retainers and keepers. intakes are fine. hes looking into it to find a solution

heres some pics. looks like i wont be done this weekend :(

pics do no justice for the engine bay. there wasnt enough light to show off the metallics.

update:

since saturday, i have done nothing on the car. the person that i ordered the new keepers from is being an ass. i told him last saturday i needed them ASAP no matter the price. i called him on monday to make sure he did order. he told me on tuesday that they should arrive the next day. nothing. if i dont get them on friday at around 2:00pm, i'm getting them from someone else and make sure i get it the next day. and tell the other guy to screw off.

the only new pic i have is of my chromed stuff i got last friday. fox valve covers and powersteering pulley are chromed. the crank pulley was just polished. the crank pulley i half assed polished.

i'm really pissed off right now and really fustrated having this car down for so long without me touching it.

well, its about 4 weeks later......

everything is done and put together. all thats left to do is dump the oil and add coolant.

when i got my heads back, i put them on and had problems with pushrod length. i continued putting everything together and had to wait for the new pushrods to come in. ended up getting 6.350 length pushrods and used .060 pedestal shims. the contact pattern was a smidge towards the intake, but that just means a little more power then longevity which i am ok with.

the engine compartment looks great. lots of shine and some black paint on the motor.

tommorow's the big day. once i set the timing and burp the coolant, i'm gonna take it for the test drive and do some burnouts up and down my block.

no new pics. dont have a camera for a while. i'll try to post some pics on friday or thursday.

the contact pattern (where the rocker tip rides on the valve) is supposed to be centered on the valve and .080 thick. mine was a little past the center towards the intake a little.

i was told race engines have theres setup a little towards the intake from the center for more horsepower.

mine just ended up that way and i'm happy enough with it.

well its pretty much done. i'm trying to fix a nasty exhaust leak i have. i've had it for a while but now its really bad.

here are some ****ty pics. i'll try to get some better ones with better lighting and clean up the dirty lines. i lost everything since my hard drive crashed so i gotta get a new program to resize my pics. photobucket resized them automatically.

as you can see the paint on the headers are peeling really bad. i dont care at this point. i'll eventually send them out to get ceramic coated or replace them. i also have to paint my a/c compressor maybe black

i still want to get some stainless steel pannels so i can polish them up and put it where the battery was and under the CAI.
