Hey all,

I just installed my intake yesterday and i love it its baddass. Not sure about the HP increase but it sounds cool. Anyways, im gunna get some exhaust here pretty soon but heres my dilemma.

Do i buy one off the net (has to be dual exhuast), MAC, Flowmaster etc.. and leve my stock Y pipe in, and save money on installation (bigtime) because its such a easy bolt to on do it by myself (total cost around 300ish) and i could do this mod in a few months here due to cost.

or

Do i goto a muffler shop and get True dual exhuast with flowmaster 40's, with whatever type of pipe they have (aluminized steel probably) Cut the Y pipe, the cats, add a H pipe and do it that way for about $$500-600$$ and i wouldnt be able to do this for another 6 -7 months due to cost.

What are the pros and cons of each way of doing it?

How much HP increase am i looking at for each one?

Hows the sound for each one?

Which brands do you reccomend for each way?

Any other suggestions?

Now i know they are all different so im looking for general responses.

I am unsure to the sound difference between the two. I went with an X pipe, because I got the mufflers and tails off my friend for $100 (he wrekced his old car), and I got the X welded and installed all for $125. However, your reverse Y pipe isnt going to make you lose but maybe 3-4 HP, compared to an H. Also, that won't void your warranty like geting your pipes cut will. I reccomend MAC...I have mine and I LOVE their sound. They actually make my car louder than a stock GT. And all I've done is a new intake and the exhaust.

Some cons about doing the reverse Y are going to be you can't say you have a real preformance midpipe.....and you will loose maybe 3-5 HP from doing reverse Y vs H or X. You could always go with the S, M, Q, T, um....I, and the new A pipe, though. LOL. (still referring to that idiot mechanic in a previous thread. If you haven't read it...all those are jokes. Don't take it seriously). You will save money (obviously) on the reverse Y setup, you will save your warranty (if there is any) because you can re-do your stock exhaust easily if ford has any problems with it.

I'll get a sound clip sometime....my room mate says mine sounds like his competition jet boat. lol.

I have the Flowmaster reverse Y-pipe setup. I like it, because it is a easy bolt on, and does sound very nice. But I would not do it again. I bought it before I knew that you could get the Y-pipe cut, and so thought that this was the only way to get dual exhaust. If I was you I would wait to get more money, and go true dual. If you do remove one of your cats, it should sound better. As far as power, there is no huge difference, but I think I would just feel better knowing I have a true dual setup.
