Well just sold a ton of my toys to build another fox, my last fox was a built 331 on a big shot of spray and now im looking to go nuts. Iv got a ysi blower sitting in my garage and ill be wanting to put this to good use. I was looking at treperformance.com and more specifically there dart 347 shortblocks, looks pretty good and not a bad price either (4500). I figure this block with a nice set of heads and the blower could potentially make around 800whp. My next question is which transmission would you guys go with? also stay fuel injected or go blow thru?

Easiest and cheapest way to really low ET's would be a big block coversion. You've already played around with the 302/331 set up....now lets see you do it with an all motor 460.

My dad built a low low 10 second all motor car for cheap. 393, AFR 185s, solid roller, intake, carb, Jericho, in a well set up chassis.

Very cool. You might want to check out the progress of TweekedGT's build over in the Canada West forums for some insperation. Sounds like he's shooting for similar goals with his car and will be running along some of the same lines.

With a $50K budget, and only 9s in site, Id say just spend the money for the trans.

I am doing similar things like Brain said. The big block swap is a lot more work than a 351 stroker, especially if you want it fuel injected. It ultimately depends where you want to be. My 408 was actually pretty straight forward and with the Dart block you can bore it out way more to make it 440cubes easily. I've heard as far as high 460cubes. It drops right in place of the 302, no motor plates or changing the tranny tunnel or fab work. Get a plan in mind of what your final goal is, nines are actually quite easy with a big small block or a big block, especially if you are looking at forced induction or nitrous. The key is a strong block, good heads, and good intake, a no brainer. Are you looking to keep it streetable or emissions legal? As far as trannies go I went with a built C6. A lenko is definitely the way to go if cash is not an issue. You can go 2speed powerglide or TH400 too but street duty will be limited. The friend who built my C6 is running the same tranny in his car and he is running high 7's in the 1320. I didn't want to bastardize my car but putting any Chevy crap in my car either .

I guess the other most important thing is how much can you do yourself or have freinds help you. If you can do most yourself you are laughing. I have a good friend who helps me out. I do all the purchasing and scheming and he helps me put the crap together. I can turn wrenches pretty good but he's an actual mechanic and a damn good one so I let him do the trouble shooting. I give input when we find a stumbling block or need something but otherwise he does most of the wrenching. Last night we had distributor problems getting the car fired and he just ripped the guts out of my old 302 one and switched stuff into the new one. I would have just waited to get the new one exchanged and waurenteed with a different one but he has the ability to figure stuff like that out.

the car definatly needs to be streetable, it will mostly see the track but also occasionally street use. I dont care about cats etc, i just want a bullet proof motor set up that makes huge numbers matched with a nice suspension set up to put it all to the ground.
