forgot to ask you, what kind of underhood temperatures are you looking at?
ever had any issues with cooking the hood or paint?

No underhood heat has never been an issue and it will be even better now with this XPI timing lock, Just the small amount of time I have had to drive the car with the timing lock installed I can notice lower temps.
